It seems that Toppel is back and Stanford was playing well! I wasn't there, but from the posted scores (37-35, 41-39, 30-28), it wasn't an easy sweep. I'd like to hear the thoughts of anyone who attended. I bet it was a real battle. Will Stanford make the tournament?

gostanford.ocsn.com/sports/m-volley/recaps/032903aaa.htmlStanford should have won the 1st two games but lost them to clumsy mistakes. Also, the Stanford block was not there last night. They got outblocked: 5-10! Alot of service errors on both sides but the Waves had twice the number of aces than Stanford.

Sorry 101 Stanford should not have won the first 2 games, because in the end, Pepperdine came back from an off night on Friday and played a good Stanford team and beat them in 3. The first 2 games were 2 of the most exciting volleyball I have ever witnessed and Pepperdine came through in the end. Rooney had a great night in front of many traveling parents from the midwest and their families ( including his ) . Keenan had 4 service aces ,only a couple of blocks ( although timely ones ) , Hein filled in at the net ( also in front of many traveling family members ) and had 7 blocks , Fred Winters pounded a few big hits too!!! All in all Saturday night was a good night for Pepperdine volleyball.

Did Stanford really play good or is Pepperdine just in a small slump. Because didn't Pepperdine just lose to Pacific. So maybe they are just in a little slump.
But I'm sure Pepperdine will bounce back. But Stanford also can be hot with the return of Toppel because I know he makes a real difference from when they defeated the Warriors earlier this season.
