Only a set into that match, Hodge has a dominating performance offensively in the first set. Wow!

Agreed about Nellie and Alisha. They both did a wonderful job.

Only a set into that match, Hodge has a dominating performance offensively in the first set. Wow! Seriously. Her approach looks great, especially on the out-of-system balls. And, it's good to see her in a league where she can pass in all six rotations and carry a big offensive load. I think she'll be a great sub off the bench in London. I personally think she has all the tools to realistically take Larson's spot for the Olympics, but I think Hugh is going to stick with Larson, despite her inability (and Logan's, recently) to score effectively at a decent percentage. Congrats to Nellie and Alisha too. Team USA is very, very lucky.

Congrats to Nellie and Alisha too. Team USA is very, very lucky. Hodge's offensive production in the Rabita series has been impressive. Her shot selection looks to be much improved and she was hitting high seam much more frequently than her repeated sharp angle of previous years. However, her two major weaknesses still remain her serve and reception. Larson still holds considerable advantage over her in those two skills. Hodge is still a receiving target and has struggled at times in both the domestic matches and the CL, but this season as a full-time receiver is going to go a long way for her towards the future. One professional season as a passing outside just isn't going to cut it going into the Olympic year. I also hope she develops a different type of serve. She doesn't possess the wrist control that Larson and Tom have to produce the consistency needed on her jump serve and still error prone. With that being said, Hodge has solidified her position as an top notch offensive player and I'm sure she'll sign with an even better team next season.

I watched the first two sets last night. This is weird, those skorts are starting to grow on me.
Also, are most of the fans in the stands military or something, wow, very very drab!

I know there is still a lot that can happen but I'm hoping for a Larson v. Pavan semifinal and Larson v. Tom final! I also know that there are other players on their teams but the match ups would be fun to see.

For your desired matchup to happen, Fenerbahce, Kazan, Vakifbank and Cortese have to advance to the Final Four. I think RC Cannes has the edge over Vakifbank, but we'll see

I caught the live feed and there were audio problems during the match. Try the TRT version here instead.

Try the TRT version here instead. Thank you for the link! Better audio and a Turkish commentator. Did Fener look ragged in this match? That Turkish MB (Eda) and Tom were outstanding. Kim Y.K., Sokolova and Turkish setter (Naz) weren't so good. Fatigue maybe? Off day for all 3?

Did Fener look ragged in this match? Yes, Fenerbahce were ragged at times. It's only the first time all season that lineup played a match starting the first set. It was Liubov-Kim at OH (Tom as sub opposite) for the first 4 matches of Champions League (CL). The last 4 CL matches, it has been Logan-Kim at OH. And the last match was Liubov's first CL match starting as opposite. When they were putting the plays together, the points looked great. Only question is how fast can they work out the kinks. That Turkish MB (Eda) and Tom were outstanding. Kim Y.K., Sokolova and Turkish setter (Naz) weren't so good. Fatigue maybe? Off day for all 3? Fener fans voted Tom match MVP in that one. I tell you what though, I think Eda is a superstar as any of her well-known teammates.

Yes, I am also very impressed with Eda. IMO she's one of the best middles in the world.
