I've found "Homeland" on Showtime to be interesting.

I asked in an earlier thread whether anyone was watching Revenge. So far I am finding it more interesting than some of the other "new" shows.

Boardwalk Empire - 2nd season is outstanding. Good show - could have been a great family show but they just had to go and put in all the This show could never have been a family show - even without nudity. I think the graphic scalping of a character on Sunday's episode made sure of that. WARNING: Graphic Images: ngewosworld.blogspot.com/2011/10/boardwalk-empire-scalping.html

The Wire.
I know. But I just started watching it last month (in season 4 now). One of the best series I've ever seen on TV.
Which brings up something else. Is there any doubt that the best story-telling is on TV now? Movies don't even come close any more. There are some really terrific shows out there -- drama and comedy alike.

There are some really terrific shows out there -- drama and comedy alike. movies have tell their entire story (as well as introducing all the characters and the setting) in 1.5-3 hours. television has the luxury of more time. Yes, each episode is limited to 40 (network TV with commercials) to 55 (hbo/showtime/etc. programs) minutes that generally each have to have their own story arcs, but the writers aren't required to totally reintroduce and define the characters and setting for every episode, and the episode stories and plotlines can build off of each other, lending the ability for much more intricate story structure.

True, but most don't even try to tell a coherent story. At least, it's not a priority.
