In 2008 I think you will see the regulars a top the rankings again. UW-Oshkosh should be good, although they will lose Semrad and Sederburg so I don't know how well their setting will be. Illinois will be good because they normally just are. Lakeland should be decent again as well. I'm going to try and make case for Marquette, that next year we will be a much better team and will be strong. This year we are a very young team. A lot of freshman have stepped up and played big for us, so that expereince will help immensely. We will have both starting middles back for another year, and they are very good and can only continue to get better. We are losing our libero, but have two very capable backups who are playing DS at the moment that will easily be able to step in, so there won't be much of a dropoff there. Our setter is a freshman this year, so another year of expereince there will help him, and he will have a better sense of what to expect. We will be losing two outsides, but have a freshman that is very capable of playing well, as he has done at times against top teams this year in place of one of our senior starters. And there is another outside who has been injured a majority of the year that will be healthy next year and be able to step in and produce for us. The biggest question mark is opposite. We have a very good one at the moment, and next year, unless a freshman comes in, we will have to attempt to convert an outside to play over there. All in all with the young team we have now, we will be that much better next year.
Hottest girls team: Texas as a whole would have to win that one, hands down.

The other place to look for good teams next year is teams that are usually extremly good and having a down year:
Michigan State is usually spectacular and after losing a lot of senior talent are feeling the effects of young players. I'm not sure who their go to guys are, and what years they are, but im sure they'll bounce back
Hottest teams? Texas seems a pretty good choice to me, although I'd venture a guess that UCLA/USC/UC-____ could be close. Any guys from out west have any insider knowledge for those of us from the midwest?

Lakeland def. Oshkosh, 15-11 in 5 Wow! Now if Oshkosh stumbles at some point this weekend at MIVA ... Lakeland and Illinois play each other in the pool on Saturday. This could get interesting. *** I didn't realize UCF brings everyone back - that certainly bodes well for them in '08!

that gives UCF three years of playing with the same group of guys. not many teams can say that. that's a huge advantage to have that court experience

Looks like Illinois took out Lakeland in the finals to win MIVA's...which is very impressive since they did it without Jeffries and Deke.
Of people who were there this weekend..initial reactions? any teams that surprised or did worse than expected?
