Most of the MAC top 50 wins are to eachother. Not NIU. I think they have ooc wins. The others seem to be amongst eachother. My point was to say that everyone thinks four from the MAC is too many. If the committee uses rpi, which seems they do, then in the past few years, they have gone straight rpi and really dont skip anyone in top 45. I think anyone in the 53 plus range is off the charts. My guess is Notre Dame would have to beat Dayton tonight. I think the committee likes wins period and Notre Dame is 17-12 arent they? 8-6 in the Big East. Don't see them taking four teams.

Number one, the committee doesn't make any inference into conference affiliation, they judge each team completely as a separate entity. Number two, your point about BSU and WMU only beating each other is valid, but in the past that didn't keep SEC teams or ACC teams from benefitting from the same thing and getting many more teams than they should have. I personally think a major separating component when looking at the last few at-large teams picked should be OOC wins and hopefully that will be the case this year. I do not think WMU or BSU have earned their way in, but to take ND and /or Clemson would really be ignoring RPI, which the committee has not done in recent years. Ironically, ND's one significant OOC win is vs WMU ! Missouri St could still win their way in also.

NIU has 3 ooc wins, Cincinnati Marquette and Milwaukee, and can get a fourth tomorrow vs Marquette again. WMU has two ooc, Marquette and Milwaukee, and BSU None. Ohio adds one with a win over Cincinnati today. I would be surprised if they do take four but there are many teams in the rpi close to WMU and BSU with the same lack of ooc wins.

NIU is good to go in my opinion. BSU and WMU will probably battle Notre Dame and Clemson for the last two spots. Missouri State could win their way in. If BSU and WMU both make it, you will definitely know that they relied strictly on RPI.

Missouri St lost today to Wichita St so they can not win in anymore.

That obviously hurts Missouri State's chances significantly. I now have 6 teams fighting for three spots. It would still be a stretch based on the committee's recent history for them not to take the MAC schools and go instead with teams 15 rpi spots down. Not picking the MAC teams however, would show that they actually went against rpi and worked beyond the basics in evaluating and picking teams.

Great opportunities this weekend for Notre Dame (v Dayton) and Marquette (v NIU) to add significant OOC wins and really show the committee they want to be in the tournament. TCU could really help their cause by beating UCSB tomorrow. WMU has Valpo, which is a must-win and BSU has St. Louis, which would be a top 100 win and in effect be their best OOC win on the season. Clemson sits pat.

I don't think Notre Dame has a shot. Marquette is questionable and I think they have to win to get in. What if Baylor losses to Kansas? I see Baylor still getting in with 4 top 50 wins but Kansas with just 2 top 50 wins and a 15-14 record likely not even with a win (and I'm a KU fan). What say you?

I think Kansas is toast. Beating Baylor though just creates more bubble chaos, and Kansas needs a lot of chaos. Not sure if I'm a bubble team who I'd be rooting for more between Baylor & Kansas.

One of Kansas' wins came against Nebraska-Omaha, who is not ranked in the RPI since they are transitioning to D1 this year. I think that means KU's record will not be above .500, and the result of the Baylor game won't matter as far as Kansas' chances go. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the Nebraska-Omaha thing...

That's wrong. It will count so they could be eligible.

Don't teams' records only count against D1 competition?

Nope. Handbook says any 4 year institutions who play other 4 year institutions. So it counts.
