BTW, marginally related to this thread, if you get a chance, check out the final four probabilities at www.richkern.com, where the competition is matched up with team quality. It's actually very competitive this year, with 9 teams given at least a 20% chance of making the final four. That's pretty wide open. I always point out that we need to remember that the tournament and tournament is all about matchups, as such the top teams don't always make it to the final four. But if the Pablo favorites make it, then the final four would be Texas Purdue Illinois USC The second most favored options from each region are Penn St Iowa St Florida Nebraska The other team with a more than 20% chance is Tennessee. The difference between Illinois, Florida, and Tennessee is pretty small. Pablo thinks that region is crazy close. Texas and Penn St are pretty close, too, but clearcut favorites from that region. USC is the #1 team and so Pablo has them as the favorite out of Hawaii, but still, it's less than 50%, so more likely than not that they don't.

According to Pablo, isn't Tennessee (#9) favored over Illinois (#10) in the regional semi's? And especially with HCA, isn't Florida (#7) favored over Tennessee in the regional finals?

Correct on both. But the prob of making the final four depends on the accumulation of all four matches.
The values for Ill, Fl, and UTenn are .217, .216, and .210, with UNI at .154.
