Is the sky blue. You only have to look at last year to prove that Volleytalkers will always consider the Pac-10 to be overrated and for pollsters to be heavily biased for all fans not in the PAC-10. The Top 4 PAC-10 teams represented half of the Elite Eight, Final Four (like almost always), and Finals. They had a combined Out of Conference record of 58-1, including the Tournament (only loss by Cal to Penn St in the Finals) and they were still complaining about how overrated they were in the polls. Probably the best performance by four teams in the same conference in the same year in the history of volleyball. Yet, just more proof of the PAC-10 bias...

Never has been. Until a team outside of PSU can win a championship in the Big10 (Nebraska previous championships do not count) then will talk. Besides Minnesota and now Illinois has any other BIG 10 school even been in the final?
Let's see, PAC winners in the past 10 years: USC, Stanford, Washington & UCLA. Yep, I can see how some would say the PAC is overrated.

Compared to what?
UCLA: They lose Van Orden and Gera, but have Moenoa and Norton ready to step in. Kidder, Love, and Todorivic are juniors; Reeves and Aquino are sophomores; Nightingale and Lowe are freshmen.
USC, losing Jupiter, Williams, and Bateman might take a step back, but Stanford and Washington are loaded with young talent coming back and in. Cal loses Murrey, but no one else.
Expect to see these teams in the Top Ten and for much of next season and a couple again in the Final Four. Penn State will keep pace, maybe Nebraska, but who else?

the pac 12 is not overrated. But the big 10 and big 12 is, in my own opinion. And i think Hawai'i will contend.

AVCA poll & tournament results: 1) USC lost to #7 Illinois in final four 4) UCLA WON 6) Stanford lost to #22 Michigan in second round 10) California lost to unranked UNC in first round 11) Washington lost to #19 Minnesota in second round 13) Oregon lost to #26 CSU in first round
Was the PAC-12 very good? Of course. Were they the best conference by far in the nation, as the AVCA poll suggested? Nope.

You put every team the Pac-12 teams lost to, but didn't list the two teams UCLA beat: Penn St and Illinois. =)

This thread is ridiculous. The Pac-10 is underrated but the Pac-12 no they are not underrated. The conferences that get screwed are the WAC and Big West. For most teams in NCAA D1 it is not about becoming the National Champ but making the big dance.
The RPI sucks!
