I think The Help was phony, so I'll go with The Artist. The Artist was clever, at least.
I'd like The Descendants or Midnight in Paris to win, although neither seems large enough for the honor. I haven't seen Hugo (not a big Scorcese fan anyhow) or War Horse.
I guess I haven't seen Up Close either, due to the poor reviews.

I'd also like to see Rooney Mara and Gary Oldman win, but they won't. I'd settle for anyone other than Streep or Close (yawn). And I wouldn't mind seeing Clooney win.
Still think The Help is vastly overrated. And fake as only Hollywood can do Fake.

The Help was terrible, a kindergarten level interpretation of race relations. But to be fair, I watched it on a cruise ship while I was fighting food poisoning. Good times.
Clooney will win best actor.
Viola Davis for best actress
Chris Plummer, best supporting actor.
Berenice Bejo, best supporting actress.
Best Picture, either The Artist or The Descendants...I'm going with The Artist.

Best Picture, either The Artist or The Descendants...I'm going with The Artist. Movies about the movie business always have a built-in advantage.

I really think it will be between the help and the artist and not because they are the two best movies!

I saw a lot of movies this past year (and even went to the movie theater more than usual) but I only saw one movie that is nominated for any of the awards.

Meryl Streep.
There you have why the Oscars are a joke. And I LIKE Meryl Streep.
