I was one of the field voters and took UCLA. That team can play with anybody and I think would give any of the top teams their toughest game. Crazy stuff happens at NIRSA...could be a year something like that happens.

Well, Lakeland could possibly get away without playing Illinois. Especially if the seeding goes the way I think and the Lake show gets a two or three, and Illinois is the one. Oshkosh could knock off Illinois and then face the UCF/Lakeland winner in the final. Even with that said, it wont come down to that. The power pools wont allow it to happen. Someone will faulter and cause anarchy on the brackets.

Naw dawg, there isnt much over confidence, arrogance, cockiness, etc on UCF. Cool dudes actually, however that target is pretty hot, as in it burns and its tough to play with it on your back. Its tough taking everybody's best shot every match. But cocky? , naw. And I should make people justify those "field" votes, cause who the hell else can win it, maybe Cal, maybe Davis, Utah Valley. I didnt expect the field to get so many votes. A big maybe. If our outsides are on the whole 3 days, and our opposite doesnt play like a goof, then we may be able to pull something off... but who knows how much.

I also agree that the power pools should shake things up. I think only six of the twelve top teams got out of the first round intact last year ..much less surviving the power pools. [See MSU: 2006]

the question is not who deserves a #1 seed, but who will win it all saturday night. Lakeland does deserve votes for that.

Thanks for the correction, zip. The other NIRSA topic got into some ranking issues, and I had that on my mind. Yes, Lakeland could win the championship ...but I don't think they will. I'd go with UCF or Illinois.

i'd go with UCF over illinois at this point. for some reason i think illinois will find a way to lose again. they always perform well at nationals, but never seem to get over that hump of making it to the championship. they've had teams in previous years that have been just as talented, but i think they'll fall short again. i wouldnt mind having them prove me wrong, but thats my opinion

an 8am match that could have gone either way. both teams knew that a top 5 team (#3 MSU, #4Marquette) was going to silver.
with that said, take care of business in pool play. that is the most crucial day in my opinion

Oh and in the case of power pools, no one has more experience in failed power pools than Dave Reid and Myself. Dallas we were ranked #3 and ended up in silver, Charlotte, we were ranked I think $5 and ended up in silver, power pools creates some horrendous situations sometimes. In Charlotte, it was Indiana, Arizona and Marquette in a power poll, how does that happen? It was like the 5, 7, and 9 all in one power pool becuase they both lost the first day. So yeah, power pools can and will cause havoc. I CANT WAIT.
And you heard it here first, Sonoma St. will win DII
My predictions on winners.
DI- Oshkosh (its actually Lakeland's turn, but the all Wisconsin Final wont happen and Oshkosh beats UCF in the finals) DI-AA- UCSB (who knows) DII- Sonoma State (38-36 Arizona, Finals at NCCVL beaten everyone in that league except Santa Clara- they are good.) D-III- Arizona B (Arizona/Oshkosh Final, with Arizona taking it.)
I havent seen two of these teams play but I might be good.
EDIT: Sonoma has beaten Santa Clara

I really don't think UCF is cocky at all, from what i saw of them at HIC they looked great... They beat Illinois at the vegas tournament, but I'm still gonna go with Illinois... cause i live there

Sweet news. Chicago canceled all flights today to Lousville, way sweet.
So we are driving all the way from Chicago to Lousville. The one time I don't think we don't have to drive for a tournment and we do.
Eff South West.

Even driving yesterday was a bitch. Snowed/Rained hard the entire way.
Both Oshkosh teams were moved from 8am starts to 3-4pm because of missing teams.
