No doubt about it, TOPPEL is simply the best collegiate player in the US, PERIOD! No one can match this guy!

So right about Toppel. He is the player who makes the biggest difference for his team. While he was out injured, somebody on this forum referred to Stanford as a "bottom feeder." Now that Toppel is back, they are winning everything. The upset win over Longbeach last weekend was no fluke.
All things considered, he is the most outstanding player in the US right now. And he is such a nice guy to boot.

From the UOP website:
STOCKTON, Calif. - The No. 4 Pacific men's volleyball team suffered a 25-30, 22-30, 30-27, 22-30 defeat to No. 10 Stanford on Tuesday, Apr. 8, at the Alex G. Spanos Center. With the loss, Pacific fell to 18-11 overall and 12-8 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action. Stanford improved to 15-11 overall (12-8 MPSF).
The win clinched an MPSF playoff berth for the Cardinal. The Tigers already clinched an MPSF playoff spot. Before the match, the Tigers honored Martin Berntsen, Tim Jenson, Aaron Wachtfogel, and Chris Tamas, who played their last home matches as seniors.
Pacific was led by sophomore Brian Zodrow (Kaneohe, Hawai'i), who tallied 17 kills and added four digs. Senior Aaron Wachtfogel (Redondo Beach, Calif.) had 13 kills and senior Martin Berntsen (Naustdal, Norway) added 10 kills and eight digs. Also collecting eight digs was sophomore Mike Gawlik (Naperville, Ill.). Senior Chris Tamas (Santa Barbara, Calif.) had 55 assists and added six digs.
Stanford was led by Curt Toppel, who tallied 19 kills, five blocks, and three digs. William Strickland added 11 kills and 14 digs.
Pacific is next in action with a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at UC Irvine on Friday, Apr. 11, at 7 p.m.

How many times has the so called "best player" in the country made it past the first round of the MPSF play-offs? That's right boys and girls, NEVER!

It takes a team to win or loose and Toppel (or any player for that matter) can't win by himself, no matter how good he is. Consider the fact that he has gotten his team into the playoffs.
The point I was trying to make is that Toppel caries his team to much greater hights with his abilities than the team would achieve without him. When Toppel started playing again, the Cardinal went from "bottom feeder" to tie MPSF 4th place. That should tell the story.

Are you saying Stanford will topple without Toppel next year?

Shaw hasn't reccruited diddly so far. Nieves took Bomhack, otherwise he made good moves overall. Toppel for POY? No way Jose.
