It's GREAT to have Curt Toppel back in the volleyball competion. He really livens things up. The rest of the season is totally unpredictable with him playing again.
The LB win was great. I am sad I missed it. The drive to Pacific and back was worth every drop of $2.16 gas. Curt was AWESOME, a real star, and he really pays attention to the fans after the match. He gives a lot to volleyball and is good for the sport. I am not trying to knock other great players like Costas and Keenan and all others in the country (sorry, I have a California view), but Curt has that energy that makes him stand out. Brook Billings had that quality but he did too many crazy things to be a role model. ***
MPSF Player of the Week April 9, Curt Toppel, Stanford
"Stanford won two matches last week, including an upset of No. 6 Long Beach State, to help its bid for an MPSF Tournament berth. Leading the Cardinal was opposite Curt Toppel (Pacific Palisades, Calif.), who had 43 kills (6.14 per game), eight blocks (1.14), three aces (.430) and seven digs in seven games. He also hit .452 for the week."

Nice comeback. Now let's see if Toppel can hold up against UCLA this weekend.
