Thanks everyone for the score updates. Feels like I was actually watching. I'm here at my desk nearly sweating and my heart is beating fast. Really appreciate it. You're very welcome. Other filks here at VolleyTalk have provided the same for me many many times over the years, so it's a pleasure to put in my contribution. It's what keeps people coming back here.

What a match. Brazil was blocking well. Super excited to see Destinee finally go all out in her playing. Smart placements when she couldn't just kill them.

Only caught the last game, but when they subbed Haneef in for Berg at the end, who was the setter?

What a great match! Definitely made my Monday!
Side Note: A little bum that the double subs did not work when needed. (Unless I am wrong on this part, please let me know)

Only caught the last game, but when they subbed Haneef in for Berg at the end, who was the setter? No designated setter. Thompson didn't come in for Destinee. Destinee was serving.

It was sort of strange because Berg went back in after Destinee was done serving. I guess Hugh figured "What the heck, we'll have an extra blocker for a little while." Didn't work however.

Suxho will come out for Smith or Holmes, whoever isn't starting, and go back in once the other team sides out.

Dear Nicole, Please learn to pass a freeball. Thx, ditto. Wasn't any better Saturday either. First two sets Brazil couldnt block anything. Larson was on fire and they had no answer. Then they got their block going and Berg had to move the ball to Hooker who took care of business. Our depth of talent at OH really showed in this match with Tom also delivering. But I think you have to credit Berg for reading Brazil well and adjusting -- and I'm not a big Berg fan. But she deserves the credit today.

Tom would have set if USA could transition Makes sense, since I think Tom moved to back right and Hooker played middle back. Still don't understand the move though. Even if you want to leave Hooker in to hit out of the back row, why not sub Thompson in for Tom?

sorry if this has been mentioned earlier, but how many points does the US get for their 3-1 wins over Korea and Brasil? What would they have earned if they swept or went to five? Thanks in advance.

You can't sub Thompson in for Tom because most of the time she has already subbed in for Hooker. Hugh has done this before and has been successful. It has mostly been at the end of sets. It gives the other teams OH something to think about.
