While USA still has two games remaining, I think it's pretty assured they're going to end up the top of Pool B.
Over on Pool A, the current team in 6th place is probably who's going to meet the United States: Dominican Republic.
As long as DR takes care of Great Britain and Algeria (which they should) then they will lock up the #4 seed and play #1 from group B.
They are a scrappy team who lost 3-1 to Russia & Italy, and got swept 3-0 after playing Japan pretty tight.
Anyone else think the Dominican Republic could possibly test the USA? They looked like a pretty solid team that is better than the results show.

USA should win easily. As stated, we have played them a lot. They have their superlative libero back, and their OH can go off, but, as a theme in these Olympics, some of the OH are older, appear a little past their prime, and not as dominating as they have been. Our Pan Am Cup team beat them twice, mostly their first team. As it is lose or your out US should be focused, not overconfident. Now watch their hitters go off in the biggest upset in years.

Biggest upset since they beat us in Athens? And in that match Cabral led the Dominican Republic 18 kills. She is planning to retire after the London Olympics. Maybe she will go off in her last career appearance.

Only way I see DR winning: -de la Cruz getting 5 aces -Cabral gets 4-5 kills each set -Castillo's dig numbers > Destinee's kill numbers
The odds are really stacked against them

Does anyone know when the IOC draws for the Quaterfinal match-ups? Is it immediately following match play on Sunday? It certainly can't be any later.

Certainly, for the US, the 3 v. 3 is preferable for them, and a disaster for the other bracket.

The QF match-up: USA vs DOM Italy vs Korea China vs Japan Brazil vs Russia I like Korea > Italy. Lo Bianco and Bosetti the Elder will not be able to slow down Kim.
