I know this won't happen since there are not enough volleyball teams anyway, but... what do you guys think of having 2 divisions of volleyball based on height.
People who are 6 feet and taller play on a 9 or 10 feet net and people who are under 6 feet play on the 8 feet net. That way more people can be incorporated into the sport and people who are short are not most likely bound to be libero.
Just a thought

There are some Beach tournaments that do that. If you are too tall (I think it is over 6') then you can't play.

IMO I think that would be stupid...you don't see allen Iverson or jason kidd complaining because they're too short in the NBA do you? No, they just go out and be the best in the league anyway despite their size.
I think they are quite a few advantages to being short...or at least not 6'6". Quickness and agility are more important to smaller player. A new league would suggest that smaller players have no impact in the way things are right now, and that simply isn't true.

It may or may not be stupid, but it is happening in the FIVB. They sanctioned the events last year and are about to start (June 24) the first event like this in Thailand. The following article is about the Thailand match. It also states that Brazil has been having these types of tourneys since 1998. www.fivb.org/EN/Infomedia/PressRelease.asp?No=410Personally, I don't like the move for me (I'm tall), but I know a lot of people that aren't that just cannot compete with me because of the height advantage (in some cases nearly 2 feet). It will be interesting to see how it plays out. If it happens that I can't play the sport any longer in the future, you can bet I'll be making friends with a lawyer.
