Destinee tips out of the pipe. 23-13
Long rally and good defense by Foluke ends in a block by her. Match point 24-16 now

They are good friends, right? Yes. That's why I think that matchup is fun. Got it. During the handshakes, Tom gave Brakocevic a kiss.

USA has clinched the pool, right? Only one match left in pool play?

USA has clinched the pool, right? Only one match left in pool play? Yes. USA will finish top in Pool B. There's a lot at stake in tomorrow's match for Turkey (qualification to the QF for either Turkey or Brazil), so I hope we see a good match and USA starts with the usual people.

USA has clinched the pool, right? Only one match left in pool play? Yep. And if Turkey wins, perhaps could keep Brazil out. So does Hugh go for it, or play Hodge, Scott Haneef a lot?

Nice "tidy" win for USA. Kept there foot on the pedal, never played down to an overmatched opponent. The face-off against Turkey should be much tougher. They just beat S. Korea.

I think Hugh should be playing to make a statement. We aren't afraid of Brazil or Turkey or Russia or Japan or anybody. Put the pedal all the way to the floor and try to go undefeated. Deliberately trying to get Brazil knocked out of the medal round sends the opposite message -- that we are afraid of a rematch.

We are the best team in the world, and by a large margin it seems.

Unless there are injuries within the team, I say USA will play to win. If USA wins over Turkey, Brazil finishes 4th and meets Russia or Italy in the QF ;D

Actually, assuming Brazil beats Serbia and Korea beats China, and US over Turkey, then Brazil ties with China (if no 3-2 matches) and is seeded third, if 3 v. 3 draw then Brazil gets Japan and a real chance at the semis.

Are we really having this discussion in light of the recent badmitton controversy? Does volleyball have a different set of ethics?
