So, the stage is set. It's time to play ball.
VBCrusin, are you going to do a contest for the playoffs? Is it just for the MPSF or all 3 conferences? This should be more exciting than the regular season.

Why in god's name does the EIVA...OF ALL CONFERENCES...have an 8 vs 9 Play in... Why doens't the MPSF have a 9th seed? SOUTHAMPTON gets a shot at the final 4 over UCLA...as much as I smile at the fact that UCLA is not in the running for the NCAA title...it doesn't seem right that Southampton gets a shot...
...what's the deal, anybody know?

Each conference can make their own rules as far as their own league tournament. So, its not a matter of why does the EIVA do it that way, but why doesn't the MPSF do it that way. The most practical would be a 12 team tournament with the top 4 seeds getting a bye and the bottom seeds playing off to see who will play the top seeds.

I agree... that's absolutely RIDICULOUS!
But, an even greater question...why is there even a EIVA conference tournament AT ALL?!
Take Penn State and George Mason...combine them with Lewis, Ball State, Ohio State, and Loyola to make ONE halfway decent tournament.

I believe the EIVA has a play in game and other conferences do not is because the EIVA has about 20 teams in their conference.

The EIVA has 3 divisions. The play-in game is between the best 2 teams in the lower ranking divisions that are not seeded among the top 7 EIVA teams among all divisions.
