Bricio is a stud. this was a recruiting coup for Mick Haley. She brings such a dynamic element to an otherwise outdated and tired USC system. I've finally gotten on the Bricio train, she's going to be absolutely outstanding for years to come. The disappointment of Katie Fuller this season has put more pressure on Bricio to perform and she has taken that expectation very well. Even in the last few months she's improved her offensive range exponentially when some of her other teammates have done little to nothing with their game. She's the best foreign player I've seen in a while and could be more profilic than players like Pavan, Tomasevic, Gordon, or Cutura.
Her numbers will get even better once USC gets better talent in other positions across the net.

And in a couple years she'll even look like she's old enough to be in college.

Word is she visited several campuses in the Southwest and although there was some interest it clearly was not a priority. Oops!

And in a couple years she'll even look like she's old enough to be in college. It's often shocking to me to compare early-college photos with post-college photos of vb players. The contrast is too much for me to handle. The girl to woman transformation. From skeletal frame to fleshed-out bulk. (I know this sounds creepy, but really, it's not. It's natural. No. Really. It's natural.)

In the NORCECA U-18 tournament two years ago, Mexico finished 2nd to a U.S.A. team that included Burgess, Howard, Bugg, McCage, and Mylan Eugene. Daly Santana played for Puerto Rico and Alexa Grey for Canada. But Bricio was named MVP of the tournament...and she was 15. If this kid played high school ball in the States, there would have been a thirty page thread speculating about her college destination. Mick (or someone on the USC staff) pulled a rabbit out of his hat with Bricio.

According to Wikipedia, Thanksgiving will be her 18th birthday.
Happy Birthday, Samantha.

Don't say that to a couple of Stanford fans on here who proclaimed earlier this season that she has no room to grow as compared to the American freshmen....

Bricio has been one of the 2 surprise freshmen this season. Many girls come in With high expectations and accolades. But every now and again, you see a surprise. Look on the other coast for the other. Stats are eerily similar and the east coaster has held her own against the big dogs.

I voice what I see as reality regarding USC. I'll have posts commending things that have impressed me and posts criticizing things that need improvement. I do this for every program, including my own. Unfortunately volleytalk (and sports forums in general) attracts many posters with soft spots for their own programs that mistake anything that isn't mindless gushing as negative attacks. If you actually read everything I've written about USC you will have a much different perspective than your apparent presumption that I'm a USC hater.
