... I tabulated Pablo's score at 48/60... Thanks! The other match in which homecourt advantage flipped the prediction was Texas vs Florida. So I think that (plus Texas vs USC) accounts for the discrepancy in Pablo's total. Also, for what it's worth, I tabulated AVCA's score at 44/57 but I'm not sure what the latest AVCA poll was. I'm using the one posted at www.richkern.com -- In that one, Washington is ranked higher than Oregon (#5 vs #6) so I only see AVCA picking correctly 2 of the 4 quarterfinals (Penn St and Texas) Pablo 48/60 "The Committee" 48/60 "Massey/Elo" 46/60 RPI 45/60 AVCA 44/57 (??)

And now the contest is down to the final two. Can reign69heir sustain his late momentum, or will maplespear hang on for the win? Best of luck to both of you.

Congratulations to MAPLESPEAR, the winner of the 2012 NCAA Tourney Pick the Winners Contest. While reign69heir also picked 50 of the 63 games correctly, MAPLESPEAR prevailed in the tiebreaker by being closest to the actual 130 points, 150 to 177.
Congratulations to all who enjoyed the contests this year and happy holidays to all!

I didn't follow Massey/Elo exactly in my entry but tried to "beat the systems", gambling on a few and using some Pablo) Thanks also to publius and vbbetterthanbb for runnin' the show. It's fun.

Massey/Elo only46/63 (It wasn't same as the entry in my name. I didn't follow Massey/Elo exactly in my entry but tried to "beat the systems", gambling on a few and using some Pablo) . Your gamble beat Massey/Elo . I wonder how other participants made their picks. Mine was similar to another participant in that I relied primarily on each team's past match results. I didn't use Pablo or the polls, and was also restricted by never picking against my team (whose early loss in NCAA cost me a bit in the contest ;D). I probably should have used Pablo instead of my trusted coin for matches too close to call .

But the results of the contest show how difficult it is to beat the systems in general. Obviously, it helps this year to be a Texas fan or an Oregon fan and submit your entry accordingly, but I'm sure it's still tough unless in the rest of the bracket you follow, say, Pablo accordingly.
