I'm gonna laugh when Pacific flies over to Hawaii and beats them. The Tigers didnt do so well this week because both their middles were out sick/injured. They are ready to rock, and they love to play in the Stan Sheriff Center. And I'm gonna laugh when they don't. As far as the Dance contest between Mike Wilton and Joe Wortmann goes.... I'll say Mike Wilton in 3 as well !

EIVA Tournament Play-in: April 15 #9 Southampton (14-9) at #8 Vassar (16-5)........I thought Vassar was a women's school. I have never heard of Southampton, but I would imagine it is located somewhere south of Hampton (wherever that is). So, I'll take Southampton in 4.
Quarterfinals * April 19 Play-in Winner at #1 Penn State (23-5)........I have heard of Penn State (they have a football team, don't they?). So, Penn State over either the women's team, or the school I never heard of, in 3.
#7 Springfield (22-7) at #2 George Mason (14-9)........I know a guy named "George", and another guy named "Mason", so George Mason in 3.
#6 Concordia (10-17) at #3 Rutgers-Newark (14-11)........I have a friend who went to Rutgers, but not the one in Newark. So, Rutgers-Newark in 4.
#5 Princeton (15-10) at #4 Juniata (17-8)........Princeton, I have heard of. Juniata, not so much. The Princeton guys spend a lot of time studying. I remember when they made the Final 4 a few years ago, one of their players had to miss a bunch of matches to work on some school project. So, Juniata (whoever they are) in 5.
MIVA Tournament Quarterfinals #8 Mercyhurst (9-19) at #1 Lewis (24-5), April 18........Never heard of Mercyhurst. Lewis beat my Bruins. So, Lewis to show no mercy to Mercyhurst. Lewis in 3.
#7 Findlay (12-17) at #2 Loyola-Chicago (17-7), April 19........Former UCLA basketball player and coach Larry Farmer is the basketball coach at Loyola-Chicago. So, Loyola in 3.
#6 Quincy (9-15) at #3 Ball State (18-8), April 19........I can't believe that there are really schools called "Findlay" and "Quincy". Ball State in 3.
#5 IPFW (14-9) at #4 Ohio State (16-11), April 19........Indiana. Purdue. Fort Wayne. Too many chefs spoil the broth! Ohio State in 4.
MPSF Tournament Quarterfinals * April 19 #8 Long Beach State (17-12) at #1 Pepperdine (22-4)........O.k., now the real volleyball. No need for wise cracks. Pepperdine in 4.
#7 Cal St. Northridge (18-11) at #2 BYU (19-6)........BYU in 3.
#6 Pacific (18-13) at #3 Hawai'i (23-5)........Hawaii in 4.
#5 UC Irvine (19-10) at #4 Stanford (17-11)........UC Irvine in 5.

Hey
Congrats to all who finished ahead of me in the TVP...even U MormonWave! ;D
Anyway...here are my picks for the various tourneys...
EIVA Tournament
Play-in: April 15 #9 Southampton (14-9) at #8 Vassar (16-5)...Vassar 3-1. Really a who care match. Quarterfinals * April 19 Vassar at #1 Penn State (23-5)...PSU in an easy 3-0 match. #7 Springfield (22-7) at #2 George Mason (14-9)...D3 Nat'l Champs Springfield takes a game but loses 3-1 to Mason. #6 Concordia (10-17) at #3 Rutgers-Newark (14-11)...Rutgers 3-0. Concordia isn't very good. #5 Princeton (15-10) at #4 Juniata (17-8)...Princeton 3-2. D3 Runner Up Juniata took the 2 matches they played in Regular Season, but Former Keenan teamate Alschuler and Co. get the revenge.
MIVA Tournament
Quarterfinals #8 Mercyhurst (9-19) at #1 Lewis (24-5), April 18..Lewis 3-0 in a yawner. #7 Findlay (12-17) at #2 Loyola-Chicago (17-7), April 19...Loyola 3-0. Last home match for LU's Sr. Class. #6 Quincy (9-15) at #3 Ball State (18-8), April 19...BSU 3-0. Don't be shocked if QU does take a game though. #5 IPFW (14-9) at #4 Ohio State (16-11), April 19...IPFW 3-2. Should be a great matchup of Ptak vs. the Young Buckeyes.
MPSF Tournament Quarterfinals * April 19 #8 Long Beach State (17-12) at #1 Pepperdine (22-4)...Pepp 3-0. Pepp owns Touzinsky and Co. #7 Cal St. Northridge (18-11) at #2 BYU (19-6)...BYU 3-1. BYU is very tough at home and won't lose there. #6 Pacific (18-13) at #3 Hawai'i (23-5)...UH 3-2. UOP has a chance to pull the unreal upset if they can pass and get their middle going. #5 UC Irvine (19-10) at #4 Stanford (17-11)...Stanford 3-0. UCI Irvine has won exactly 3 matches vs. teams in the MPSF tourney since they beat Hawaii on Feb. 1.
Good Luck to All!

In response to vbfan4life's questions about Juniata and springfield - Yes they are Division III schools. The NCAA championship is considered actually NCAA Men's Collegiate National Championship and any level of NCAA school is eligible to compete. The title Springfield won was the Molten Division III Men's Volleyball Invitational Title, the closest thing to a Division III National Championship there is (no Division III team has ever qualified for the NCAA championships is why this tournament was created). Springfield won the EIVA Hay Division, the second tier division in the EIVA. Juniata finished fourth of seven teams in the EIVA Tait Division, the top EIVA Division. Vassar finished runnerup to Springfield in the Hay Division and will face Southampton, the winner of the EIVA Odeneal Division, or bottom of three divisions.
Hope this answers some questions.

Although I'm not an official member of the club, I want in. Would some brother like to nominate me for a bid? How long is the plebe year? What is the initiation like?
Anyway here goes?
Quarterfinals * April 19 Vassar at #1 Penn State (23-5) PSU in 3 Easy #7 Springfield (22-7) at #2 George Mason (14-9) George Mason in 5....could even be an upset here. Springfield is better that peopl understand #6 Concordia (10-17) at #3 Rutgers-Newark (14-11) Rutgers over the South America Internationals in 3. Rutgers will compete for the League next year but is too young with Freshman and Sophomores yet. #5 Princeton (15-10) at #4 Juniata (17-8) Hmmm. Juniata in 4.
MIVA Tournament
Quarterfinals #8 Mercyhurst (9-19) at #1 Lewis (24-5), April 18 Lewis in 3 HARD. Hurst get your helmets on! #7 Findlay (12-17) at #2 Loyola-Chicago (17-7), April 19 No lay for the Fin. Weak! Sorry. Loyola in 3 (low/mid 20) #6 Quincy (9-15) at #3 Ball State (18-8), April 19 Ball Sate will find their groove. Look out #5 IPFW (14-9) at #4 Ohio State (16-11), April 19 IPFW in 4. OSU should not be in the top 15
MPSF Tournament Quarterfinals * April 19 #8 Long Beach State (17-12) at #1 Pepperdine (22-4) Pepp in 4. Nothing flashy just another day at the office for the waves #7 Cal St. Northridge (18-11) at #2 BYU (19-6) Both fiery programs who thrive on emotion. THIS IS THE GAME TO BE AT! BYU is knockdown/dragout 4 games. One game will go to 37! #6 Pacific (18-13) at #3 Hawai'i (23-5) Pacific has no chance #5 UC Irvine (19-10) at #4 Stanford (17-11) Hmm. Difficult. Stanford is hot but I pick Irvine in 4
I would go on but I will re-evaluate after this weekend.
Ciao

Hey the future... Welcome to the T.V.P. (Top Volleyball Prognosticators) Contest for fans all over the country. This is not a club, but a collection of knowledgeable fans...come to think of it, why not have an initiation, and DUES paid? Nawwww. We had this contest for the MPSF this year, but next year, the T.V.P. will cover the top 20 or 25. Watch for it at the beginning of the season. Incidentally, the WINNING T.V.P. will receive one of my prized California/Hawaiian shirts...all you have to do is predict the most correct matches and games played throughout this complete tournament...to the Final 4. I'll post the Quarter-final results and the Semi-final matches on Sunday. It's GREAT FUN for ANY fan who appreciates these fantastic volleyball athletes. GOOD LUCK!

We are doing the top 20-25 next year? Aackk... I think my chances of doing well just went down the drain, unless the EIVA and MIVA comes out to the west a lot more. Oh well...It should make for an interesting upcoming season to say the least.

One good thing is that it will make us pay more attention to the other conferences that we don't intrinsically care about. Something I have only done sporadically - if I know a kid on one of the teams, I try to keep up with them, but that is it. Don't really care about the rest of them. I know that is bad.
