I'm not too familiar with how they vote on the men's side. I can usually predict placements on the women's.

They probably will, Hawaii I think will drop to around 4.

The rankings will change often as the season progresses, Being that most of the top teams are playing against each other in MPSF play. The Warriors have some big matches against UCI, and Long Beach St. coming up. The Warriors will have to be on top of their game, and cannot afford to suffer same the type of letdown as they suffered against Stanford.

UCI may be number #1 in the ratings next week based on their record, BUT ask anyone at UCI and they'll tell you that they won't feel like number #1 until they face and beat Hawaii. I think Hawaii and UCI will split when they face each other, but UCI should still maintain their number #1 rank. However, watch during the next month because that # 1 rating will change hands several times. It'll be a great season as promised.

Its too hard to predict the number one team in the nation. Likely UCI will get it next week, but for IB, its like the top 5 for women. The 2002 top 5 womens teams (USC, Stanford, Hawaii, Florida, and Nebraska) are all the top teams who can beat each other on any given night. For men, its the top 15 that can do that, and most of them are in the MSPF. Anyone ranked can knock off anyone else on any night. The only thing that gives us an indication of who will win the title, will be the team that stays around the top 3 for the entire season. Other than that, its anyones guess.

Mens losses, even to second tier teams, affect the men's rankings far less. I think a lot of it comes from the fact that recently, even some of the bottom feeders in the MPSF have been ranked in the top ten. I can't even remember the last time someone went through the league with only one loss even, much less undefeated. I think Hawaii will probably drop to 2, considering the loss was in 5.
