I saw in another post that someone posted with the implication that high school vball posts would be appreciated.
What schools are looking good this year? I dont wanna just single out Cali schools but it seems that Cali has the majority of the decent programs.
The only taste of top notch high school vball i got this year was at the Francis Parker Tournament in san diego about a month and a half ago.
Some pretty killer teams went there. Mostly teams outside of SD did well. (only Parker and Mt Carmel hasd good showings of the SD teams that did participate)
San Clemente , Esparanza, Buchannan, Valencia, Mater Dei, Royal and Valencia are jsut a few of the top teams that did really well.
I finally got to see Jacob Weins play for Buchannan. That guy can smash. Is UCSB the school hes going to be attending?

Here's just a few thoughts:
There are a number of good teams this year. Loyola seems to have the edge. I'll predict they'll take C.I.F.
Like last year, SJ Bosco deserves more credit than they're getting. They're undefeated as far as I know. It's too bad they don't play a tougher pre-season schedule, but they've taken Santa Margarita and Mater Dei in the Serra League matchups.
The Sunset League is tough this year with Esparanza having returned nearly their entire C.I.F. championship roster from last year, Huntington Beach who returned their entire roster and Fountain Valley who returned a lot of their guys too. (Makes me wonder if any of those teams will be good next year though.)

Down in the South Coast league its San Clemente, Dana Hills and Mission Viejo in that order. SC is undefeated, winning the San Diego and Orange County Championships, and finishing second at Dos Pueblos to the Loyola Youth National Team in a 17-15 single game final. Their league games w/ DH and MV were both 5 game, 3 hour barnburners. As good as their record is, they have been pushed in tourneys by the likes of Royal, Valencia, Esperanza, Woodbridge, Huntington Beach, Simi and Santa Inez, all of whom felt they should have won and are spoiling for a rematch. I don't see anyone beating Loyola. On 4-16 its Loyola @ Santa Margarita giving OC a chance to see #1.

Neither school has this matchup on their schedules for this week. Is it a scrimmage?
