Thanks vbfreak808 for excellent presentation of next weekends match info. Stats links and color coding of RPI are impressive. I will use this for reference.

Big West Rankings: (the conference looked in good shape on Sunday morning despite Davis getting bageled, not so much after Sunday's big thud) #1) Hawaii (so much for that win over Texas) The loss to San Diego does not take away from their victory over Texas. sure it does, just like LB's loss to Kentucky diminishes the win over Illinois. Otherwise, Hawaii would have been ranked top 3 & LB would have been ranked top 20.

I don't know whether someone has mentioned this previously, but according to Cindy Luis in her blog, Haleigh Hampton, Long Beach's 6'6' middle has an injured knee; don't know how serious it is or how long she is expected to sit out. Luis got this information from Coach Brain Gimmillaro while interviewing him for an article on Dave Shoji (impending 1,000 win). As a Hawaii fan, I am sad to read this. The Big West needs strong teams to boost the conference RPI. Then too I'm sure the Hawaii players and coaches want a competitive conference too as preparation for the postseason. Too bad.

Otherwise, Hawaii would have been ranked top 3 & LB would have been ranked top 20. I still disagree because with the time that the match finished in Hawai`i, lots of the ballots were already sent in, therefore I do not believe the match with San Diego impacted the rankings that much

Out of the 4 tournaments UC Irvine is playing in, this weekend at Cleveland State has the toughest field.
- All 3 opponents Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne (25-7), Cleveland State (23-7) and High Point (21-11) all had 21 wins or more last season.
- 2 opponents in IPFW and Cleveland St. played in the NCAA tournament last season.
- All 3 opponents are picked to finish in the top 3 of their conference. IPFW 1st in the Summit. Cleveland St. 2nd in the Horizon League and High Point 3rd in the Big South. UCI picked to finish 5th in the Big West is the lowest rated team among the 4.
- This tournament will reveal how good a 3-0 UCI really is.

Alison Lee was a Jon Stevenson recruit,...she left when POLY dismissed Jon.

Can LBSU get any luck with injuries? I feel bad for them to have another key player out after all that happened to them last year. Still, they need to be able to beat Air Force.

UCI def. High Point 3-0 = 25-15, 31-29, 25-18 - High Point hits a low point as they had 3 straight set points in the 2nd set but couldn't put UCI away. - UCI's Alison Lee continues her production getting 14 kills & 16 digs. Senior Aly Squires leads UCI with 17 kills to go with 12 digs. Marisa Bubica adds 12 kills while hitting 0.417. - UCI has a lot of competition at libero. This match it was Hannah Nabbout who got the start. She played well getting 15 digs and serving 5 aces. - UCI has won the last 2 matches while playing only 8 players. However UCI has some firepower coming off the bench when they decide to use them. - Trivia: The High Point mascot is this below. But the black panther is not an actual species. It's just the common name given to black jaguars or black leopards.
