I don't think a 10th grader would commit without a scholarship, because there would be plenty of time to get other offers with scholarships if she were, for example, good enough for a preferred walk-on at UW. I don't think he would #bingo a walk-on. OTOH, it would be highly unusual to have 2 back row players on scholarship. As much as Morales has worked out fabulously, I always thought that was an unusual pickup. At any rate, I don't hold my breath over 2016 recruits. That's a long way off.

That is a fair point about a 10th grader not committing without a scholarship. So that means Sheff plans to have 2 scholarships available for 16. Right now there is one for sure (Morey graduating), and then I am guessing that he's hoping for or working on a junior transfer to take Graff's place. I can't see them just leaving a scholarship unused for 2 years, so my guess is that he gives it to Workman then Ito, or just Ito. What do other folks think?

Ok, so we all thought Dodge was going to be libero, now what? Maybe Dodge will have a growth spurt and make it to 6 ft. I guess I was the exception here. Dodge doesn't play libero in high school, she's an outside hitter and considered one of the best in the state already... She's a 6 rotation player with great defense AND great offense. With Shef being successful with a 5'11 MB and 5'6 Outside, he's not scared of undersized hitters. According to East Troy website, M.E. can already reach 9'9, that will improve a bunch with strength over the next few years. www.easttroyheat.com/teams/15-black/19-mary-m-e-dodge/

There's enough height in the 2015 class, I guess.

Can you explain why you are worried about undersized hitters becoming a Thing? Because as much as I love Deme, she's one-of-a-kind, and I have my doubts about others' ability to be as successful. I think we'd do ourselves a disservice in B1G competition with a front row that averages under six feet tall. Just a gut sense, backed up by nothing. And I could be totally wrong here, too. Which would please me like nothing else.

...Can you explain why you are worried about undersized hitters becoming a Thing? Well, aside from the 2015 class, which is granted, tall, we have a 5'10 hitter in 2014, and another in 2016 so far. It's one thing to have the jumping jack Morales and the quick Thompson, but you can't make up a whole team of that ordinarily. But, to your point, in 2016, there will still be the tall folks from 2015, plus Nelson, Fricano, and Blake, all over 6'3, but only 1 of whom was a Sheffield recruit.

I don't think short hitters is a Sheffield "thing" - playing Morales was the best use of the talent he had on the roster, and all of the tall OHs talented enough to play at this level were already taken when he was recruiting the 2014 class. He had a 6'4" outside holding down the fort at Dayton, and it's a lot harder to get size like that in the A-10. The two 2015 outsides are also 6'2"/6'3", and they are really really good.

Wow. She's only 14? And she's playing with 16-year-olds? And doing that? As we say in Wisconsin, holy cow. I am pleased.
