Hilley is class or 2017.... Shef is really going after um... 9th grade starting setter, i think she got to state semis this year... part of the USA Volleyball select 1 high performance team.. Just a FYI... This footage is 13 months old - taken March 2013. She continues to get better and better! The Badgers just secured a very special young player and person. Syd comes from an amazing family as well. Congrats to all!

Hold the phone! I don't see confirmation of this anywhere. 1) It would be crackers as a 9th grader to commit for 2017 when not one of your future teammates is even on the team yet. 2) If Juley is coming in 2015 as a setter, and she's supposed to be good too, you'd commit for a two year starting job 4 years from now?
Edit: Yes, I know, Carlini supposed committed to UW in 9th grade. But she had been attached to them for years.

See Lange, Emma. That's the world we live in now.

A confirmation won't keep me from ranting on the subject though. However, I can unrant for a moment...Let's say she's the next Carlini (I have no idea, I never heard of her). If every college under the sun is contacting her, I suppose I can see why getting it over with might make sense. But that's a sad world.

Someone with a username that indicates he's her club director just put a congratulatory post at the top of this page. Seems like pretty good confirmation to me.

Nice recruit who had visits to most of the majors it seems.
She has nice location but I sure wish I could see more athleticism demonstrated in the video. I saw one tight ball set to the pin and a relatively easy reverse flow backset from the knees but other than that everything was in system. Of course if she is getting the looks from the Bigs she must be marked as an elite. Sounds like a nice kid and family. Congrats and good luck.

So she's somewhere between 5'9 and 5'11, depending if you look at basketball or volleyball info. I'd be more inclined to assume 5'9.

Her club team confirmed via Twitter:
Minnesota Select @mnselect 57m Congratulations to Sydney Hilley on her verbal commitment to Wisconsin Volleyball!! pic.twitter.com/U50jQBPfPD
Congrats, Wisconsin. A major disappointment for Minnesota.

Confirmation from the player herself: 1a) The Rolfzens committed at this age (though each of them at least knew who one of their future teammates would be). 1b) Fricano will be a redshirt senior in 2017. 2) My guess is that a player of that level doesn't commit to join a team in 2017 in order to start in 2019. She commits to join a team in 2017 with plans to win the starting spot in 2017. Not saying that she's going to - I have only seen the one video of Hilley and have never seen Juley play, either on tape or in person, so I cannot comment either way - but that is the sort of mindset that a kid like that probably has. Also, she's a setter/hitter, so as much as I'm not a fan of the 6-2, I suppose that's a possibility. And yes, there are three and a half whole seasons for injuries to cause problems. Let's just hope that doesn't happen.

agree with Dorothy, two recruits from MN headed outstate. I think everyone initially thought….former Olympic coach, he will get all the great players both in state and out…. Looks like this is not materializing. Hugh is a great guy, not sure what the deal is? Granted he is not an experienced recruiter. Are their other issues?
