Some scores from the first CSV tournament of the year this weekend (South American equivalent to NORCECA). The #2 team from Paraguay must be very mentally strong to continue to compete after some of these....
CHI 1 - E GRIMALT / M GRIMALT d. PAR 2 - BATTILANA / GODOY (21-4, 21-6)
BRA 5 - SANTOS / GAUDINE d. PAR 2 - BATTILANA / GODOY (21-2, 21-8)
Two matches, four games, not even a combined 21 points. Ouch.

Last year the USA U-19 team delivered a 21-0 beat down during pool play at the FIVB world championship.

Its one thing to get humiliated and embarrassed by Brazil, but by Chile?

The Grimalts (I believe they're cousins rather than brothers) frequently make FIVB main draws. They're not chopped liver.
Worst score I can ever recall seeing was (21-11, 21-1). It was at the Bangsaen Open in 2012. A local Thai team (shocker, I know) against I want to say a Swiss team (it was no one amazing).

Not saying there are but there are probably ten players in say, Colorado, or Virginia, or some other non-prime VBall state, that could easily get 10 total in a match against them. That's a dad versus kids score

Last year the USA U-19 team delivered a 21-0 beat down during pool play at the FIVB world championship. I feel like Sara Hughes has been in a couple of these matches during her career.

You make it sound like any loss to a Brazilian team is automatically less bad than a loss to a team from some other nation. I've never heard of the Brazilians mentioned in the OP. They could be sixth graders for all I know.

Maybe not automatically but its historically true that the US and Brazil have usually had much more depth than other countries, especially Brazil. There have been many times where either country had multiple teams that could have won FIVBs who couldn't even get it because of country limits
