Turkey shocks Italy 3-1 in Baku. 23-25,25-21,25-23,25-19 Big big big win for turkey and puts them up there as one of the favs for the tournament. What's this "we" stuff? The relatives in Firenze are very upset.

Sorry I kindda got carried away This is a big big win for a team who would not even dreamed of taking sets of teams such as ITA, RUS and CUB let alone win matches off of them.

I noticed the Rice Owl logo. What's going on with their volleyball program?

I noticed the Rice Owl logo. What's going on with their volleyball program? Same question. I saw R. Pazo play last year and pound for pound she must be the biggest hitter in college volleyball, and I've seen K. Willoughby and S. Gordon. Also in speaking to the Rice SID last year she said that Pazo's sister is a better player than her, is that true?

Who cares about Rice? Why not start another thread? ;D Thanks for your suggestion. Rice doesn't deserve its own thread though. Now what's the latest news on Rice?

Well I've no clue what's been going on with Rice VB. I'm on the other side of the world and most of my friends there are on vacation or something.
I've heard a lot about Pazo too and she's definitely one of the best to play at Rice. Rice occasionally gets such players (Sammy Waldron was another one at the beginning of 90s) despite not being a very high profile program.
I'll be sure to update if/when I hear sthg....

Pazo is a fantastic player. I am kind of glad to see her go. She was someone who could cause the Wahine a lot of problems. All in all, she has the ability to play for almost any team in the nation. But she doesn't get the recognition she deserves. She doesn't have a strong supporting cast. In terms of the WAC, if a team keys on her, she can be slowed down and there is only one or two other players that can pick their game up to keep Rice in the game. But a team like Hawaii has so many weapons that its hard to key on a single player, so all the players look really good. If she were on a team with some stronger weapons, she could get a lot more recognition.
