Just a random thought that popped in my head. Watching some of the matches from Italy and Turkey, seems like a heavily male audience. Lots of soccer-style chanting that doesn't always seem to follow along w/ the action. Not even sure if they're fully paying attention. Do you think a lot of the spectators are more fans of the women vs being fans of the game?
If more the former, could good looks play a big part in helping a player get a pro contract (or a better one)? Obviously, a team would prioritize picking up a great volleyball player, but I bet it's a bonus if that player is also easy on the eyes.

I have not been offered a pro contract, so that's probably why.

Yes and no. It all depends on the situation and culture of the country she's playing in
If you have an AMAZING player who's not the best looking vs a beautiful so so player, the amazing player will be picked.
But if both are on the same play level, most of the times the prettier one will be chosen. Same thing with getting a job. Whether we like to admit it or not, if we were a boss, and two people of equal skill sets applied, a lot of us would hire the attractive one. It's just basic psychology

Don't think Flier or Kozuch would still be as in demand as they are if they were homely brunettes.

or Alyson Felix. No, not pros, bit both have more lucrative sponsorships than their peers. Jones came under fire for grabbing all the opportunities others felt candidates for, but lost when compared to Jones' attractiveness and perceived appeal.

Considering I am a psychology major and I can quote exactly what I said from my book, I think I have enough info to make such statements.

While I don't believe that is a quote from your text book. It's pretty much been proven that attractive people have much more opportunity than the less attractive. I was 3 years into my Psych degree when I switched majors.

Meant it more in a way that my textbook pretty much says the same thing. Apologies for the confusion

Sponsors, sure. Pro contracts...it may extend for some, but for the top leagues the pressure is too high to win to have inferior players on the roster.

No one is saying any serious team owner would just consciously go out looking for women just because they are attractive. But looks do make a difference. People are biased toward good-looking people, most of the time. They get more promotions. They win more elections. They draw more viewers to movies or TV programs. And I would bet that, relative to their volleyball ability, they probably get favorable contracts too.

100% we are all judged by our appearances. Tall, good looking, in shape people generally get paid more and get more opportunities.
