Thought I'd take a look and see if any teams were registered, this will stink if they stay in: Men's FIVB US$75,000 Anapa Open May 28-June 1, 2014 Tri Bourne John Hyden Will Montgomery Stafford Slick
Women:
Christal Engle Heather Hughes Lauren Fendrick Brooke Sweat Jennifer Fopma Whitney Pavlik Irene Hester Caitlin Ledoux
there is also a NORCECA that weekend too.

Well, with the Grand Slam Q played yesterday day, both winners of the Q are no longer entered in the Anapa draw. Fendrick/Sweat also withdrew. So now there are only 1 team per gender listed:
Irene Hester Caitlin Ledoux Will Montgomery Stafford Slick
Glad to see the AVP event will be minimally affected.

Men's top 12 based on published AVP points:
Jake Gibb/Casey Patterson 2790 1 Tri Bourne/John Hyden 2360 2 Theodore Brunner/Todd Rogers 1815 3 Ryan Doherty/Nick Lucena 1815 3 Phil Dalhausser/Sean Rosenthal 1770 5 Brad Keenan/John Mayer 1660 6 Billy Allen/Braidy Halverson 1545 7 Andrei Belov/Adrian Carambula 1445 8 Pedro Brazao/Steve Grotowski 1290 9 Will Montgomery/Stafford Slick 1275 10 Matt Prosser/Adam Roberts 1250 11 Paul Baxter/Russ Marchewka 1135 12
Noticeable absences - Jennings, McColloch, Olson (Derek & Matt). There is a NORCECA that weekend as well, so that could explain where these players might be.
Note: Originally had Drost/Tramblie as missing, but they are registered and are the #13 seed based on current entrants.

Women's top 12 based on published AVP points:
Emily Day/Summer Ross 2525 1 April Ross/Kerri Walsh Jennings 2497.5 2 Jennifer Fopma/Whitney Pavlik 2145 3 Lauren Fendrick/Brooke Sweat 2115 4 Kim DiCello/Tealle Hunkus 1430 5 Kathryn Piening/Sheila Shaw 1345 6 Sarah Day/Olaya Pazo 1145 7 Laryssa Mereszczak/Megan Wallin 895 8 Andrea Peterson/Tanya White 795 9 Michelle Iafigliola/Traci Morin 710 10 Laura Anderson/Jessica Jones 475 11 Meg Chetwood/Traci Weamer 385 12
Noticeable absences: Hochever/Carico, Engle/Hughes, Branagh (who has been implying on twitter she is playing), Ferreira, Batt (these two especially surprising since it is in Florida), Lima, Niles, Van Zwieten, Daley. Again, NORCECA could explain a few of these. Hopefully we will see the entries fill out over the next 2 days as the draw looks fairly shallow on the women's side especially.

Not a lot of Florida teams registered for the men. Where is the East Coast representation?

yes u stand correct. If anything those teams that fail to make the main draw can drive a couple of hours down to Ft Myers. The only other thing I heard is players boycotting AVP because of their issues with the NVL.

Not sure what other East Coast guys you would really expect (that probably says something about us on this coast hahaha). Most of the higher level East Coast guys are signed up. I see Chenoweth/Phipps, Burik/Bates, Van Swieten, Donohue/Fraser, Eric Lucas, Cash/Corbit, of course Adrian, Grotowski.... Im sure Im missing a few on there, but that seems like most of the higher level east coasters. I know a few guys have had issues because of NVL and citizenship-type issues. But no need to get into all that. I know Mallin/Palm do NVL and Marciniak wont be in the country (but also plays NVL)

The NVL thing is a good point and I didnt think of that.

Also to those of you in the know, what happened to Mike Dipierro? Does he just not play seriously anymore?

If you can find it, look at the list of players who were entered in the final NVL event in Las Vegas. Supposedly, anyone who played that tournament was given a lifetime ban by the AVP.
