I would say the World Championships next year just heated up with the winner from each gender receiving a berth in the Olympics!

Technically, the winner doesn't get a berth, the country of the winner gets a berth. You would think it will end up being the same team, but you never know....

Your right my bad. Just read it again. Still if a lower ranked country has a hot tourney could be interesting for sure.

Another interesting scenario is if a country with only one top team wins it. Then, unless there is something not in that PDF file, a single team could earn its country 2 berths allowing a much lower rated team to go to the Olympics.
For instance, the Chinese women. At least right now, there is only one team (Xue/Xia) that I think would finish top 15 in the Olympic rankings. So they could get hot and earn a second berth for China.
A better example is probably Nicolai/Lupo on the men's side. There really isn't a second Italian team that you expect anywhere near the top 15. So if they win the World Championships, are they actually winning a berth for a second Italian team?
