I have always struggled to control knee tendonitis (jumpers knee) because of a knee tracking problem.
I try to keep it in check by doing a wide variety of things: leg strength training/exercises, icing, etc.
My question is this..... does anyone recommend a knee brace or patella strap that works better than others that helps the knee to track properly while playing?

I had a friend that got one and it helped to cure his jumper's knee. I will try to find more about it, but he moved to Wisconsin and is hard to track down. It was black, with velcro above the knee and below to hold it on, and a stretchy strap that went under the patella.

The two types of knee straps most people use are the Knee Pro-Tec Patellar Tendon Strap and the Cho Pat: secure.cho-pat.com/products/product.php?product_type=26www.kneebrace.biz/protec/I used the first-generation Pro Tec strap back in the early 90's when I first injured my knee (meniscal tear and removal). I mistakenly thought it could "hold it together" for me if I cinched it up really tight. It worked while I played, but it was agony when I took it off. My orthopedic doctor said it contributed to the acclerated wear on my knee joint and the osteoarthritis in my joint space where the meniscus was removed. I had to have a second surgery to debride and clean up floaters. Your patellar tendinitis is a different story. I know in extreme cases knee arthroscopy can be done to fix the "track" in your knee allowing the patella to move better.

Thanks for the advice.
I've used several different patella knee straps... they helped a little.

I finally found something that works... at least for me. The Pro-tec J-lat knee support. It gives me good patella support.... AND helps my knee to track properly. I highly recommend it.

www.kneebrace.biz/protec/Here is a discription of the Pro-tec J-lat knee support. It was around $40. I can't remember the web site I purchased it from. It is one of the big volleyball product sites.
