I don't follow the FIVB age group championships, but have always been curious how the seeding works considering the players don't play that often. Since the example I'm about to use involves Canadians, maybe camkerr can explain this to me. Canada has three women's teams entered. Sophie Bukovec/Tiadora Miric Melissa Humana-Paredes/Taylor Pischke Denise Wooding/Charlotte Sider In 2013 and to-date in 2014 their results are Bukovec/Miric - 9th at 2013 U19s as a team and a 17th at the 2013 U21 for Bukovec with a different partner Wooding/Sider - 17th at 2013 U23 Humana-Paredes/Pischke - 2 Norceca Golds, 2 Norceca Silvers, a 9th at 2014 Puerto Vallarta Open, 17th at 2013 Long Beach Grand Slam and a Bronze at 2013 U23s So how do Bukovec/Miric end up in the main draw (automatic bid), while Humana-Parades/Pischke are in the qualifier? (Wooding/Sider were also in the qualifier and lost to get a 41st)

So how do Bukovec/Miric end up in the main draw (automatic bid), while Humana-Parades/Pischke are in the qualifier? I'd venture a guess to say that perhaps it's because Tia and Sophie won the Volleyball Canada U23 Worlds Qualifier, and technically would have to go as Canada 1, whereas Melissa and Taylor did not participate in the qualifier, and would therefore have to go as a qualification team. But don't quote me on that, not too sure. Update: Dykstra/Pardon won silver HumaƱa-Paredes/Pischke won bronze Bukovec/Miric finished 9th Hughes/Woolever and Larsen/Metter finished 5th

That's it. Volleyball Canada held the qualifier during the school season, so Mel and Taylor were both off playing for their CIS teams. Mel was actually injured at that time and Taylor went on to win a national championship.
