Okay, I gotta say this. I love and respect the Nebraska football program. But...
(there's always a "but")
...I hate their players. You can go back decades to the 1970s, 1980s, and to the present, and there are always mammoth lugheads who spoil the game for me. Maybe all football players are stupid behemoths. I don't know. Maybe it's me.
The Peter brothers. L. Phillips. Jammal Lord. Incognito. That dildofart guy who slugged a fan in the gut on the sidelines this season (caught on tape) as that dildofart was running to the lockerroom after the game. One year, I was passing through Lincoln and a football player accidentally spit on my shoe. He was trying to spit on the sidewalk but he missed and his loogy landed on my shoes. I looked at him, compared his 300+ lb physique and girth to my skinny ass, and decided it wasn't worth starting a fight. (I would lose) So, I just said "Hey!" He looked at me, then my shoe, and just laughed and walked away with his other idiot football buddies.
I hate that Incognito freak.

I won't even try to defend Christian Peter. However, I would ask you to cite one instance of comparable bad behavior by his brother, Jason. Just because they are brothers, it does not automatically follow that both of them were bad actors.

I didn't want to sound like a whiner (still don't), but when I read this thread, I felt compelled to respond: watching the last quarter of the Alamo Bowl, I took extreme umbrage-- meaning I thought it was a really cheap shot--when some designated special teams player for Nebraska totally took out the opposing and totally unsuspecting punter with a vicious block even though both teams knew, yes knew, that the punt returner was going down 30 yards away. Some WOLFOWITZIAN will undoubtedly respond that he was simply following his assigned task and doing his duty, but, as some of us remember, that's what Lt. Calley said about Vietnam.
I've been to Lincoln several times over the past few years, to watch VB matches. IT's an amazing forum to participate in and in which to spectate. The fans are great (even if somewhat Roman coliseum-like) in their appreciation of the sport, and friendly to opposing teams. Collegiate sports must be Nebraska's primary non-ag business. But still can't get over paying double the amount ($140/night) for a hotel room (Holiday Inn) over other places like Denver, L.A., S.F., Charlotte, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, Spokane, etc.

That was definitely a cheap shot, almost dirty. But Nebraska is loaded with dirty players. I don't know, maybe the whole sport is dirty.

Ya gotta love a sport like D1 football that doesn't want to introduce a playoff system to crown its national champion but has roughly half of its 117 teams in bowl games.
Are there any teams with losing records in bowl games this year?
I know there are a some at 6-6 and more that are a single game over the .500 level.

I do regret that NU ever had anything to do with LP & I would have kicked him off the team. Funny thing is he got charged for a misdemnor assualt & was suspeneded 6 games. Despite the stories he never once hit that girl but he did pull her hair. That was 8 years ago & since then there have been countless abuses by all college teams and a misdemeanor assault now might get a player suspended for one game!!! I find that amazing. I disagree with Wolfgang that Nebraska is loaded with thugs. Richie said nothing all week long as Mich St. admittedly was talking trash to him & the whole team trying to start something. They continued their trash talk in the game. Richie is like a tiger....you keep poking him with stick to piss him off he's going to take your head off so I for one was fine with how he behaved. That guy who egged him on the whole game & deserved every shot he got. Nebraska football players still rank in the top 10 for players who earn their degrees. So, sure there are always a couple of guys that get in trouble but thats true for all teams but to group the entire team with that moniker is wrong. Fl.St had no less then 9 players get in to much more serious trouble in the last 2 years but I don't see alot a talk about that. FYI. www.ydr.com/story/psu/15971/

Teams with losing records are not bowl eligible, and you must have 6 wins against 1-A teams(though there is a rule that allows teams, once every 4 years, to count a non 1-A win toward their 6 wins). I hate the bowl system, playoffs are the way to go. Nebraska is a dirty team, based on what I saw the other night, but they are no FSU or Miami. Also, anyone catch the Auburn-Wisconsin game today? Same pathetic, inept refs called the FSU-Florida game a month ago. Same refs who raped Florida with blown calls, did the same to both Auburn and Wisconsin, but moreso to Wisconsin. How are these refs allowed to continue being employed? Sad.

Hey Gator, heard that Spurrier just quit the Redskins. Do you think that Zook's job is in danger. (after all Nebraska just fired its coach after a 9-3 season) I wonder if he would consider going back to Florida?

Spurrier is taking a year off, from what I've heard. As for him returning to Florida, I'd highly doubt it as long as Jeremy Foley is the UF athletic director. They don't get along. Zook's job is safe, for at least next year, but after that, who knows. If people think they are football crazy in Nebraska, at Florida and in the South in general it's taken to a whole other level.

It seems Kellen Huston, a Husker player, will be charged with punching a fan in the face after the Missouri game. He is expected to plead guilty.
