where is this kid?! has anyone who's seen a match lately seen motter suited up? in the star bulletin article wilton didn't mention him as a competitor for a starting OH position.
matt, take a lesson from pedro. don't leave because you aren't getting playing time right now. look to the future. you'll get your ring.

I dont know what the big deal is. Motter is not that good. He has a bad attitude too. Get over it. He should transfer and go play where everyone thinks they are gods gift to volleyball. If he is so good he should for go his next three years and declare for the draft. Nothing is worse than a bad attitude. I dont care who you are if no one likes you on the team that should be a sign that you are not alright in the head.

obviously you dont know crap about crap. I suggest that you do not talk about someone that you do not know. I know Matt and his family, and even coached his older brother. For you to hide behind your computer monitor and smash your keyboard with such nonsence about how Matt sucks is pathetic.
He is a legit fab 50 player in high school.
He was player of the year
oh, and he was only the main ingredient in the mix for the #1 Team in the Nation, La Costa Canyon, in his senior year.
He was picked up by the defending National Champions.
He is a freshman for Christs sake going to a team that has a number returning starters and legit back ups.
Yeah, I can see why you can say that Matt sucks. He must have everyone fooled

Motter is a real coo guy...I heard that he has decided to leave UH and is trying to trasfer to another school somewhere in California. Like many UH players in the past, Motter has had some problems with Wilton. Don't the UH Athl. Dept see that Wilton sucks. I mean, first Pedro quits, then Motter. Last season, Tony Ching quit for awhile. I mean if u look at the history books, many players have not remained in UH for 4 year. Both Jorge from awhile back left the program, Burrer also left. I mean come on...obvis. something is wrong. I hear Motter might even play for a JC college in Cali. Shows just how far he'll go to get out of UH!

Matt Motter is transfering to Pacific. He was on campus last week and has been cleared by the NCAA to transfer. This just became official today...which is why people have not heard much from him. Welcome matt to the tiger family.

I heard from a very reliable source couple days ago that Matt Motter has quit the Warrior volleyball team.
It is pretty sad that Motter will be leaving the Warriors because he probably would have been a top candidate to start next year at one of the vacant outside hitter spots.
I've seen Matt around a lot and he really hasn't looked happy here. Hopefully he'll be happy wherever he ends up and good luck to him.
There obviously must be something wrong within the University volleyball program if these players are quiting the team. First Pedro and now Matt.
I remember that there was an article that came out a few years back about Mike Wilton and the troubles he had with a few of his players. I forget what it was really about, but I just remember that it was about players that didn't like how Wilton coached and didn't like playing for him. Hopefully things get better with the Warriors volleyball program and no one else decides to leave.
I just hope things work out for the best with Matt and the Warrior volleyball team.

kolohekeiki,
i also remember that article. i think it came about the time that andre breuer incident.
wilton just has a different style of coaching. it works for some people, it doesn't for others. we can't just look at the few who have quit. what about the dozens who have gone through 4 years and been successful? there are just so many. the jorges were asked to leave the program - they didn't quit. alifonso was asked to leave because of "lack of commitment to the team," and perez because of "lack of commitment to school." rick tune left the team to pursue a master's degree at pepperdine, but left on good measures. pedro is back.
i wish matt the best, but i really wish he would've stayed in hawaii. no one treats their players like hawaii fans do.

Personally I don't care much for the aura Wilton has. He reminds me of a drill instructor. He doesn't seem all that connected with his players emotionally, and I think his "I wouldn't trade this group of guys for anybody" was about the most emotional thing I've ever heard from him. That being said, I'll say I think he is a damn good coach. While not a people person, he does what a good coach should. He instills the values of hard work, dedication and the pursuit of excellence in his athletes which is very evident in every player who has left the program. He pushes his athletes and won't let them give up. I think the main reason he is a good coach is because I think (and this is just from what I observe) he is someone who genuinely cares for his players. He wants them to do well, and will not pat them on the backs and tell them they did a good job if they didn't give it everything they have. Some people just aren't ready to embrace that attitude. I think either A (in the case of Breuer and Azenha) they have communication problems on one end or the other as to their value or his concern for them, or B (in the case of Naom Katz and the Pedros) are gifted players who aren't willing to buy into his "my way or the highway" way of coaching.

Another thing to think about. I noticed players always end up emulating their coaches after a while. I shudder to think what Delano Thomas will look like as a senior giving 110%. But so far Wilton has yet to disappoint.

I thought Azenha wanted to quit the team because he was homesick? Now people are saying he wanted to leave because of Wilton? huh?
