Why are you making such a big deal ONLY with UH for? Last time I checked, BYU's Rafael Paal is 25 years old and people like yourself NEVER mentioned HIS age factor as being an old man in college playing volleyball.
Now what schools do YOU root for? Name them, so I can keep an eye out on them to see if they ever had or ever will have foreign players that is older than his American classmates.

I think we all beat this up pretty good last year after the Hawaii Nationals Championship.
Something like the Hawaii "men" versus the Pepp "teenagers"... if I remember correctly.
Points were made on both sides. The BYU issue of old was brought in etc.
I think that point was as long as the Teams are within the NCAA perameters we still can have Chris Wienke (Florida State 28 year-old Nationals Championship Quarterback) - type players.
Obviously is is ahuge advantage to have a "older" player on the court. Why else do we have red-shirting.
EVERY school has had this scenario....just some seem to have more of the "older" guys....or "foreign" guys.
Some may not like it but it has become a part of the Men's Collegiate Game. Deal with it!

I don't know what Cokay's (My, what a name - it means sh*t in Hawaii, by the way) problem is. If you look at all the men's teams, almost everybody have foreign players in them. And it makes men's volleyball more exciting and competitive. Or do you want UCLA to be racking up championships year after year after year? That's the reason, in my opinion, why men's volleyball became so stagnant in its growth. We all know that the better players in the country go to UCLA and if the other colleges dont resort to foreign players, guarantee UCLA would keep winning the titles, and once in a while Pepp, or USC. This has been happening for a long time and where did this lead as far as men's volleyball popularity is concerned? JUst be thankful that Hawaii started winning or else you will find yourself alone in this board. I remember the old days when less than 200 would show up for men's volleyball matches in Hawaii. Only when Yuval Katz arrived that we started paying attention to men's volleyball.

Besides, if these older players are really that great, they would be playing for money instead of playing for a scholarship, wouldn't they? If anything, the US players should be better, considering it is the only country without a professional league.

I don't know what Cokay's (My, what a name - it means sh*t in Hawaii, by the way) No that does not mean sh*t in Hawai`i. It isn't even spelled like that. But anyway, I find nothing wrong with international players playing at the collegiate level because I think it just improves that game with the talent and skills they bring to the NCAA game.

You have to blame the NCAA. It is all based on the magical age of 25 (I guess after 25 you are unfit to be a college student) and your years of remaining eligibility declining from that number and If you've attended a foreign university. I have often wondered why they never went forward from 18 instead. Certainly would have a disasterous effect on BYU and foreign players.
