Thoughts on this match up ?
It looks like the voting majority so far in the Pick the Winners for this week have Florida State winning this match up..

It'll be fun, I'm sooo excited. Hats off to Coach Poole for loading up his Pre-conference schedule!

It depends how well Florida serves and if we can pass well I think. If we serve well enough to make their fast offense more predictable and so we can transition balls for points, as well as sideout at a really high rate we should win. I'm more worried about playing them later in the season because it always seems to go five, not really taking much stock in the preseason match up at all. I want Florida to beat FSU anytime but whatever happens Thursday doesn't worry me at all. By the way will it be viewable on the watch espn app? I'll be at work so I'm wondering.
*but that being said I would like to see our pin blockers take more risks if they get caught by themselves or with a larger seam. I would like to see them make bigger moves through the air back into the angle or to the line, really pressing into the court. Sometimes we can do that well and still manage to slow down or block pin hitters but not always, generally the faster offense screws our blocking scheme up entirely...It might more than usual with the focus on swing blocking in the program now, but maybe they will know to switch to the normal block if they are going to sacrifice good form trying to run back out toward the pin from the inside? hmm?

I haven't seen FSU play yet this season so I can't really judge this matchup. From what I've seen of Florida so far, they have not yet reached their potential and need to play at a high caliber and I'm sure anyone else who watched them this past weekend will agree on that point. How much greater can they get in the next few days is the $10,000 question as FSU and Texas surely should test them.

I'll be curious to see if Mary sticks with Santos-Lamb and Snyder at outside or if she played them a lot last weekend just to get them more experience and switches it up against FSU. So far so good with that pair -- though Santos-Lamb looked a bit shaky at times Saturday -- and I think the potential is really promising.

They were Mary's super stud go to outsides last season...now she is not starting / playing them? Wasn't Recek National Freshman of the Year 2 years ago.. Now she is benched ?

It will be nice for Florida to play a quality team like FSU, it will prepare them for Texas. I wish Texas would of scheduled a bit harder before Florida. None the less it will still be a great week of volleyball. I wish FSU and Florida the best in their match. It will be fun!

Haven't seen the rest of FSU's non-conference schedule, but adding a win over Florida in addition to their road wins this past weekend could set them up nicely come tournament seeding time.

I agree this could be a big win for seeding against Florida for the first round host come tournament time. The rest of the FSU schedule is pretty good too. They play 9 of the first 11 matches against tournament teams and the overall record was 9 and 8. They scheduled some really reasonable non-conference competition.

Seminoles also play American and Marquette this weekend, and also host LSU later and have back-to-back contests @ Texas A&M, always a dangerous place to play. Very admirable schedule.

One thing we do know is that FSU won't be rattled by playing in a tough road environment. I am not saying they will win, but they have to be entering the match with a lot of confidence.

And I really hope that both end up having good seasons and don't end up playing each other again in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament due to regionalization. Been there, done that.
