"why is Theo better than him?" Theo is a wold class blocker. I meant in terms of the physical. Does Theo get higher on his block jumps? Have longer arms? etc. Or is Theo a better blocked because his technique is superior? I think its the second. Slick has been a full time player for a while now, at least as long as Theo, but his game is undisciplined. Look at the video I posted and watch his blocking technique. It looks like an early career Jose Loiola.

It looks like an early career Jose Loiola. I agree that physically in terms of reach etc., they are probably fairly even. Theo has great instincts around the net. Similar to being a great rebounder in basketball, you could have two guys exactly the same size and athleticism, yet one is a better rebounder because he has a "nose for the ball". Now, slick's hard attack offense as demonstrated in the video is pretty strong and better than Theo at this point and Slick is a way better setter. Slick sets pills. So, I don't know if Theo is an overall upgrade for Adrian having thought more about it...

Something interesting in that video is that in the first game when its close, Phil/Rosie could not do a thing with Slick when he swung hard, but every time he shot the ball they picked it up. I think Slick needs to play to his physical advantages more. One thing I keep thinking is "why is Theo better than him?" There is no physical reason for it. Its just mental Theo had top level indoor blocking training.. Slick played on a college club team then went to the beach. I am pretty sure that plays a little bit more into it than this mental talk..

I watched a few matches this weekend with Adrain and slick. They actually got a red card from arguing with each other on the court Saturday. Sunday wasn't a whole lot better. Seems Adrain is mad with him about being so big and not getting more blocks but his attitude and body Lauguege was embarrassing. I had to walk away. The way he was acting is definitely not helping slick or Adrain's chances of picking up a new partner.
I think slick will dump him. Just my thoughts. I would. The problem is there's not any players out there right now available better than Adrain. Closest one would maybe be Ty. Maybe a crabb would leave billy?? Who knows. Casey and slick on paper seems like it would be better but it didn't work last time.
Far as Adrain dumping slick same thing. Who would be better than slick?? Brunner yes but I don't see Brunner playing with Adrain. Slick sets really well for a big guy and that helps Adrain. Adrain is to small to not get a perfect set and be effective. Adrain does pass really well which helps out the setter.

Everyone seems to think blockers can just transition over and stay at the same level as a team, now playing defense. (Casebeer has been mentioned, Bourne, now Crabb). It really does not work as simple as that. These guys are playing with elite beach defenders that make them look even better (clearly Hyden and Jennings are elite, Billy is still good). How long did it take Patterson to become a good defender, who even now gets criticized being on one of the top teams.

But POTENTIALLY these players are talked about most from where they played on the indoor court. No one has mentioned Brad or Theo because they were middle blockers indoors. The players you listed above where either Outsides, opposites or setters. With that, they had some level of backcourt responsibility. And watching them, they all move very fluid, Not like a Rooney for instance.

Adrian eventually noticed he was being serious and just wanted to get Slick pumped up lol As mentioned Sunday was no better. Each time Slick missed a block or got tooled Adrian's body language was almost Dana-like It blows because this was a team I was rooting for...

Yeah I was pulling for then also. I find myself slowly not tho with all the drama.
Wasn't Bourne a Labero in college? If so he has to be a pretty good defender. That's what makes Hyden so good. (6'5" and digs balls). If Bourne could be a elite defender that's would be sick. He is really really athletic for a guy his size. Maybe Bourne and theo? I still think Bourne and Phil. Lol

No 1 there is more talent in slicks Hair then Adrian's entire malnourished body. No 2 At that level the game is 90% mental and obviously he is lacking in that department. If he is worried about looking good on the court he needs to hit the gym and start acting like a professional out there. Maybe he can dig deep for the last event and at least pretend to be a decent human being.
