Great night of volleyball. Congrats to BYU, they took Pepperdine out of their game. Cougars played like champions......however......their sportanship on the court didn't match their level of play. Too much complaining (ditto during the Pepperdine-BYU regular season match). Hopefully, we'll all see a great rematch at the NCAA's and BYU will both play and act like the champions they are.
Go Waves !

The good thing about a loss in 5 is that you have to believe Dunphy was holding back a little, yet they still managed to keep it close. BYU on the other hand, probably had to win because of that 1% chance the at large would go to another team. Pepperdine was assured of the berth so they didn't really have to show their hand. Hopefully we get to see these guys meet up in the finals.

The only thing the BYU players seemed to agree with the refs on was the final score. If the call didn't go their way they bitched and moaned. The turning point for them was when they inserted the Slabe for good in the 3rd game. It was an entirely different team. That guy can serve, and fire it up. Why don't they start him?

A friend of a friend on the Pep team told me Pep took a dive.

That is implausible with the way they were fighting to win game 3.

Then again, this all but assures they won't have to play BYU until the finals.

The Waves did crash...but you know what happens when a wave breaks on shore...another big Wave comes rolling in again! ;D It was a great match...down by 2 games, BYU came back to win it. It was a close dogfight, and the Cougars came out as the top dog that night. It just goes to prove, "don't count out any team!" regardless of their standings. Jaime Mayol had a great night and was tough to stop. Jonathan Alleman took over and blasted his kills through Pep's tremendous blocks. It was a long and well fought match on both sides...VERY EXCITING to see. Did Pep throw the match?...definitely not. All those in attendance were treated to a see saw battle of a "never say die" determination. I can't wait for the Semi & finals...I predict BYU and Pep will meet again. See you at the Final 4.
