Well, the Bucks did not play in the NCAA's for the first time in 14 years. Next year will bring a little more firepower. Lets take a look at the incoming freshman. I think that the Bucks have 6 available scholarships. I expect one will get pocketed for 2005 and one more might be used for a spring signing. Brittany Dahms - 5-5 Libero Byron IL Club Fusion (assume Walk-on) Ami Stevens 6-1 MB Centerburg OH Matchpoint Nicole Britenriker 5-11 MB Mason OH Team Z Danielle Meyer 6-1 MB Cin Mount Notre Dame OH Team Z Brandie Molnar 5-11 OH Springboro OH Team Z I don't really know much about Brittany Dahms. She played on Club Fusion last year, who won the 17 Club at JO's. I believe Ami Stevens will be an impact player for the Bucks next season. She played for Centerburg, a small school power in Ohio. She led her team to a 4 year record of 114-5 and the state final four all 4 years. She was All Ohio in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Centerburg was State runner-up in 2000 and 2001 and won the State in 2003. She is very athletic and has a wicked jumpserve. She played MB in high school, but I anticipate her playing RS next season. Ami is a little bit of a wildcard in the club scene. She played for Club Loco last year. They really did not play great competition. She will be playing for Matchpoint, the 2nd year Columbus club associated with Ohio State, in 2004. Jim Stone will be coaching this team and this will certainly give Ami a head start for her freshman season. Ami Stevens more to follow . . .

Is Britnenriker gonna stay in the middle or move? She seems undersized to play MB in the Big 10. I know she's good though, and OSU has a very good class coming in.

Hopefully this recruiting class will really help OSU this year, because when they came to BYU this past season, they looked horrible. It was a predicatable, tremendously unbalanced team that we all could've drawn up the game plan for every night.

According to the press release, Nicole will start out in the middle with Danielle. I anticipate a lot of slides and sets to exploit her quickness.

She needs that head start. She is very athletic but very raw with her skill level. If she makes an immediate impact to the Buckeye program - I'd be a little suprised. Eventually - yes but realistically she got quite a bit of developing to do for Big Ten play.

Nicole Britenriker played her first 2 years at East Lake HS in Florida. She helped lead her team to the Florida 5A semifinals in 2001, where they lost 15-13 in the 3rd to Plant, the eventual state champ. She has been in Mason, OH for her Jr and Sr years in High school. Her mom played volleyball for Char Sharp, a coaching legend, of Archbold in NW Ohio. Nicole was a 1st team Florida 5A all stater in 2001, a 2nd team Div I all stater in Ohio and a 1st team Div I all stater in 2003. She played for Tampa Bay jrs while in Florida and for Team Z 17-1 in 2003 where she made the all tournament team and help them to a 17 Open national title. Britenriker also played on the 2003 Youth National Team that placed fourth at the World. Nicole is incredibly quick and has good hang time. She was rated 9th in the PrepVolleyball.com Senior Aces. Nicole

It'll be exciting to see what she can do at MB. Everyone kinda harps on her being too short, but having lightning quickness is way advantageous when she's going up against those slower lumbering MBs. When Brazil fielded their best team in the mid 90s, their MB were 5'10 and 6' I believe.

Well look at how successful Lauren Duggins was at 5'11'' and Nicole B. is better coming in as a freshman than Lauren was as a frosh. I think she'll do just fine. But the true test will be to go up against the 6'5'' and 6'6'' MB's of USC. Thats the measuring stick.

She made Div I 2nd team All state in 2001 and 1st team All state in 2002 and 2003. Danielle has won JO Open titles with Team Z the past 2 seasons. She is a powerful player that is vocal and very intense. She will be starting for the Bucks in the middle next year. She was rated 14th in the PrepVolleyball.com Senior Aces. Brandie Molnar played for Springboro, a town between Cincinati and Dayton, where she passed the 1000 kill mark this past season. She made Div I 3nd team All state in 2002. Brandie was an OH for Team Z the past 2 years as they won JO Open titles at 16 and 17. She made the all tournament team in 2003. Brandie trained with the 2003 USA High Performance Training Team. She has lethal right arm, hits a heavy ball and has a nice jumpserve.

I like how the ball in this picture perfectly hides the face of one of the fans. All it needs is to a little smiley face on the ball.

I've seen all the Team Z girls perform live and in color. The golden fleece lives in Greece.
