Which team is the top dog in this PR league? Looking at the stats between Ponce (Ross and Olsovsky) and Toa Baja (Cruz), these teams seem to rely a lot on their American-based players. Cruz's 26 kills nearly accounted for half of the team's total (57) with one other player in double digit kills (13). Same story with Ponce. Ross's 18 kills is 50% of the team's total, while Olsovsky had 7 and the other OH has 8 kills and the Opp has 2 kills. Kinda weird attack distribution.

I notice that Cruz didn't play in Toa Baja's first match, I guess she was still in Florida? I thought she was gonna finish out the semester at UF, maybe not? Unless she's just playing weekends, which would be weird. Oh well, glad to see her playing and doing well, she's off to a good start.

She's not American, but Bayamon also has Michelle Collier, who played at South Florida. She and Pilakowski make a fine 1-2 punch, she's a fantastic player and looking at her stats in the first few matches, she's tearing it up as well.
Aury Rodriguez(UF) is on the San Juan team with Rouwenhorst and Paola Rodriguez

All the teams rely primarily on their US players, when you look at the stats it seems as if no one else is getting any of the kills! It's still early in the season, but Gigantes of Carolina are probably the favorite as they are the defending champion. They have two great outside hitters in Kritee Porter and Yarleen Santiago. However it will be relatively open because each team has a good player or two. Should be fun because there is at least one match everyday from not till at least the end of Feb

She is doing both, finishing out the semester at UF, classes during the week, and playing for Toa Baja on weekends. Her team was willing to fly her down each weekend to play. Think of it as a two hour commute. As you see in the two weekend games it is well worth to have her there. As for Willoughby, one of the papers mentioned that in the first match, people were wondering if she was worth the rumoured $55,000 contract. She answered that question by serving two aces in a row to start off the match. Caguas seems to have relied on her towards the end of games in the last match they went to Willoughby mostly. She scored 3 of the last four in game 1 and 5 of the last 7 in game 2. I think what is impressive so far, but not unexpected is her defense, getting almost as many digs as she gets for kills.

This is only unexpected to those people that relied on the Final Four performance to judge her capabilities. To those who have watched her for four years at Hawaii, her defensive numbers are no surprise, but quite expected.

" To those who have watched her for four years at Hawaii, her defensive numbers are no surprise, but quite expected".
How true. Stats from PR so far indicate to me that her play is well rounded. Her lower numbers of kills is indicative of a more balanced attack used by Caguas, Xiomara Molero is a excellent setter. I have a friend who lives in Caguas and a fanatic so I also get a fan's perspective on Kim and so far all positive. Good relationship with team mates, has them laughing all the time. Fan's go nuts over her serves and kills and she has been well received by them. Last night against Corozal was her first home match and offical introduction to the home town fan's and she was greeted with many signs saying " ALOHA KIM", she's having fun! Friday is the first match this season with Carolina last years Champs.
