www.collegesports.com/sports/w-volley/stories/012104aac.htmlUCLA volleyball had their end of the season banquet last night. The fabulous Chrissie Zartman received MVP for their team, it is not often a libero gets this recognition on a top 20 volleyball squad. Congrats Chrissie. A complete list of team awards presented at the banquet follows: Best in-season GPA- Morgan Smith Best Conditioned- Krystal McFarland Best Server- Becky Green Best Passer- Chrissie Zartman Best Setter- Krystal McFarland Best Hitter- Brynn Murphy Best Blocker- Cira Wright Best Digger- Chrissie Zartman Newcomer of the Year- Colby Lyman Most Improved- Brynn Murphy Most Valuable Player- Chrissie Zartman I suppose I could dig up a pic of these gals, but I'm not gonna post it.

Did Jewel get the "Best Doof!" award? Probably, but he wasn't there, as it was a UCLA volleyball banquet and he doesn't have much to do with UCLA.

I think Zartman got SCREWWWWWED not being name to the All-American team. She's every bit the player Gentil is.

Congratulations to Chrissie! A well-deserved honor!
Who does UCLA lose next year and who do they gain? What's their early outlook? (I know I could look this up myself but I'm too lazy to do so right now and I'm sure someone has an opinion.) Will expectations be higher for them next year or lower?

(I know I could look this up myself but I'm too lazy to do so right now and I'm sure someone has an opinion.) Will expectations be higher for them next year or lower? Definitely higher expectations than the Elite 8 round they were in this season. They lose very little next year as far as talent and are a very cohesive team. They play well together and are very well coached. I believe they only lose Cira Wright and Natalie Ray (who actually was done most the way through the season due to injury/illness). I believe they will pick up where they left with Cira's absense and Natalie did not play much. The team's height average is right around 6-0, not huge, but all very quick and all very all around players. A lot of freshman played last season, and had a lot of frosh mistakes that they learned from. The outlook is very good for UCLA next season. Watch for Krystal McFarland to shine with Colby Lyman, Brynn Murphy, Heather Cullen** (needs more control) as hitters and Chrissie Zartman passing nails to her. Bruins to overtake USC atop the Pac-10 standings? Its possible... very possible. I think there are 4 teams that have the potential to be atop the Pac-10 next season: USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal (if Mia is back). Arizona could squeeze in with a froshman Idaho setter to fix their problems. **thanks roofed

Haley Jorgensborg is the other setter on UCLA team. Maybe you got confused her with Heather Cullen?

How can you leave off Washington? They beat Stanford twice last season and they nearly advanced to the Final Four. They don't lose too much and they pick up Chrystal Morrisson (I think #2 rated US prep). They have a terrific offense.

Btw, Brybry and Roofed are two different persons. Yes, brybry and roofed are two different people. I credit roofed for being way more patient w/ other posters on this board and more willing to give and take punches. Me? I'm more of just a giver.

Congratulations to Chrissie Zartman she earned that award definitely.
She was very impressive when I watched her play against the Rainbow Wahine.
Good luck next season.

Although Rachell Johnson did not play due to her broken finger/ red shirt she should an important addition to the team. She's fast, a great blocker, and high jumper.
