UW is obviously looking thin at MB next year, even assuming Jones plays middle. And one would think the Huskies would be an extraordinarily interesting and attractive team for an experienced, talented middle looking to transfer. Yeah, how often can you transfer in and immediately play for the (soon-to-be) defending national champs.

Predicting sports is a fools game. The reason sports are interesting is that they are designed to be unpredictable. But hey, so what? Sometimes fools are wiser than wise men. Sports are for fun, and I'm having fun watching this Husky team in 2015.

If we look at just returning 2015 scholarship players (7) and 2016 signees (3), that leaves two scholarships available for 2016. One scholarship is needed for Sanders, an MB in 2017, however. One commit, Onosko, did not sign in the fall.
So, if UW brings in a two-year transfer MB, they will have one scholarship available for 2016, but none for 2017. In that case, they could be offering Onosko a 1/0/1/1 deal. If they bring in a one-year transfer, or no transfer, then a four-year scholarship would be available to Onosko. They do need Onosko, since she and McPherson will be the only L/DS's on the roster, unless there are walk-ons added.

I thought the PAC-12 guaranteed 4 year scholarship offers? I believe they are allowed, not required.

I have no inside knowledge whatsoever, but I'm speculating that this post (from "Shadowfax") in the Coaches Seeking Transfers thread might (I emphasize "might") be from someone on the UW coaching staff: "Pac 12 team looking for MB transfer. Scholarship available for 1-2 years. Must be academically sound and prepared to start in Pac 12." UW is obviously looking thin at MB next year, even assuming Jones plays middle. And one would think the Huskies would be an extraordinarily interesting and attractive team for an experienced, talented middle looking to transfer. While UW has a need, they would probably say "Top Pac-12 team" or something to that effect. Also, I think the UW may have other concerns at the moment. Cal's season is over, desperately needs someone in that position, and the academic comment would make sense.

The point is that we've got one coming in for 2017 (Sanders), but no one going out (no seniors from 2016). That means, if we bring in a two-year transfer MB for 2016, we'll have a scholarship for Onosko (not yet signed) for 2016, but not 2017. Thus, the potentiality of a three-year (1/0/1/1) rather than a four-year offer.

Cook reaches into Big 10/Big 12/SEC recruiting territory to land his first big recruit of what will need to be a monster 2018 recruiting class. Probably thankful that most of the other big programs will already have top rated setters on their roster for some time (Gray for Stanford, Atherton for Nebraska, hilley at Wisconsin, Shook at Texas, PSU grabbed Blossom from this 2018)... now gotta shore up two stud OH's and a stud MB and I'll call it a solid class.
Welcome to the family Powell.
