Hanna Muzzonigro, the Notre Dame rising senior setter who started most of the 2014 season until an injury sidelined her, is not listed on the 2015 roster. The old roster now reads "missed 2015 season with an injury". There is only one setter currently on the ND roster. Yikes.

The old roster now reads "missed 2015 season with an injury". There is only one setter currently on the ND roster. Yikes. Fudge. That's a not insignificant 11th-hour blow to J-Mac's first year. Obviously someone filled in for Muzzonigro at the end of last year, but only having one setter on your roster seems a wee bit dangerous. |

Well, obviously she was injured, but the OP on the subject made it sound like her decision not to return was recent. I could be misunderstanding. I don't follow ND VB that closely. |

Don't know when she was determined not to be able to come back (she wasn't mentioned on page 1 of this thread as players no longer on 2015 rosters), but it seems really unusual not to have any back up setter on the team.

Don't know when she was determined not to be able to come back (she wasn't mentioned on page 1 of this thread as players no longer on 2015 rosters), but it seems really unusual not to have any back up setter on the team. There are two setters on the current ND roster. JMac found a setter, Taylor Zwickl, who played for the Notre Dame club volleyball team in 2014. She did have an impressive high school career, starting three-years (and lettering three-years in track-and-field), during which her team had a record of 134-15, won a state championship (as a soph.) and two conference championships (as a junior and senior), was team MVP, all-conference, and academic all-state, led state in assists, set season and career school records for assists... One wonders if JMac was just hanging out watching the intramurals and, voila!, there she was? Or did he hold an open tryout? |
