From the Daily Breeze:
Friday's Prep-JC sports roundup
Mustangs rebound against Mt. Carmel
The Mira Costa boys volleyball team, reeling from a surprising loss to Peninsula, responded in resounding fashion by beating highly regarded Mt. Carmel in a 15-9, 15-17, 15-13, 15-10 nonleague match on Friday at Mira Costa.
Mira Costa, which has won 14 league championships in the last 15 years, lost to Peninsula earlier this week for its first league loss since 1999. But it quickly reestablished itself against Mt. Carmel.
Taylor Hein recorded 25 kills, and Tim Schneider had 24 kills and 11 digs for Mira Costa (11-2). Middle hitter D.J. Stromath contributed 17 kills. Jordan Morris had 74 assists and won 19 points on serve for Mira Costa.
Mt. Carmel, which fell to 12-2, holds the No. 1 ranking in the CIF San Diego Section.
“We had a bad week, so this was a big win for us. We needed this one,” Mira Costa coach Mike Cook said.

A good win for Costa over a quality team. Mt. C may be top ranked in SD, but this is a down year for SD and they are not close to what La Costa Canyon was.
