We are new to the college volleyball world and have found this board to be interesting as well as full of valuable information. It would be helpful to many if you can continue to post links and insight to information that is of interest to us all. For instance there was a link to NCAA stats recently posted, that had a lot of great information. I appreciate knowing about this type of resource, as well as ways to follow along with college matches with the gametracker and livestat programs. It is great also to hear about the televised matches as well. Perhaps, you have other suggestions that would also be helpful or interesting.

Your first stop should always be the Rich Kern site, bookmarked at the top of the page.

Well, for starters, the NCAA stats come out every Tuesday, pretty much, for the prior week. You can view them by following this link: NCAA Stats: web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/rankings?sportCode=WVBThe links in the header here are also very handy, as well as a few that are not mentioned yet. Here is a quick synopsis of what they are good at. Rich Kern: The best site for comprehensive scores, schedules, news, statistics, rankings, etc. on the web. Stats-RK-Us. You can find this year's RPI approximation as well as other rankings that are better indicators to a team's status. One stop starting point.USA Volleyball: Not very good for collegiate sports, but you can follow former collegians and the National Team, as well as some limited prep news. FIVB: International Volleyball Central. Indoor and Beach Volleyball. No college news. NCAA: The NCAA. Header to the stats page, also links to rules, polls, rankings, etc. Not as up-to-date as RichKern is. But some information is occasionally available from here. NCAA VB: This appears to be new. During the NCAA Championships though, there are quite a few good links to follow the matches. AVCA: American Volleyball Coaches Association. They host the weekly nationally syndicated top 25. They host stats for attendance, top 30 kills, triple-double-club, various weekly articles about results and a few other honors as well as All-American voting. NIRSA Club VB: There is a collegiate club level of volleyball for those that are not playing NCAA level ball. The main season is in the Spring though. Women's News/Resources: A very good collection of articles around the web regarding volleyball. A slight Hawaii flair, but not biasedly so. Great spot for finding articles around the nation. College Women: If all NCAA colleges were members of this website company, this would be the place to go! However, they are not. But, this is a generic link that lists the latest news from member institutions. A good place to stop if the schools you follow are members. Div I Final Four: A new link to the Long Beach Final Four website. Looks like you can buy tickets and find travel info there. Cool. Regarding the above, there are some more details I'll get to later. Back to work for now!

I didn't mention this above, and I feel I need to. One of the first things a fan should do to keep up on NCAA D1 VB is to sign up for "GameScores Delivery Service" from RichKern.com. www.richkern.com/vb/GameScores/Deliver.asp?Div=DII actually have it sent to my phone and can tell the scores to friends at matches of other matches! I wake up in the morning and get the results from the previous night nicely in my inbox. A very good starting point.

Sites that aren't listed above but have good news, too. VolleyCentral: www.volleycentral.comLinks to many articles of top 25 volleyball and more. Good pictures, vollEcards, links, and shopping. I check here often every week.

One other site is www.avca.org/ResultsViewTop25.aspI don't remember the AVCA doing it last year. I have followed the first couple weeks of the season, and it has been getting better each week with scores going up faster. Many are there before most sites have them. Someone told me the schools input them directly after the match. Has results for all NCAA Divisions, not so much for NAIA. I like doing the detailed view as it provides game scores and notes about the match all on one page with a pop-up with the notes. One downfall it is a little slow to load (up to 20 seconds), but all the information is there someone may want when it does gather the information. Also, you can see the full schedule for any school you choose, either by choosing at the top or selecting a college from the detailed report view.

HOLY SMOKES! IT'S THE AVCA DATABASE! Notice that it is not just the top 25 they list, but all the scores they have. Wow, I can't believe they have made that available to the public. It must be in response to the popularity of Rich Kern's site or something (although Rich's scores are far more conveniently accessed). Whereas Rich's site is still probably better for DI scores, this is a great resource for non-DI info. Ruffda, you need to check it out. Makes that search for DIII scores a _lot_ easier (you thought the conference sites are convenient? How about a site with everything in one place in convenient format?)

And this is a new function for the AVCA this year. They have done a lot of things that have made our lives easier, like on-line All-American nominations. They're doing a much better job than in years past. And Rich is still the man.

If you want straight news all in one nice weekly document, I would also go to www.avca.org/FaxOnFile0.asp. It provides weekly recap articles in all NCAA divisions, along with NAIA and men's while they are in season. The articles come out on Wednesday, and I have the spot bookmarked to read when it comes out. Last year you could not access without being a member, so I think that is a change - I am not a member. But it is still great reading.
