www.fivb.org/FIVB-BVE-2015-World%20Tour%20Calendar-28%2011%202014.pdfFIVB continues to make changes, for 2015 they introduce a new type of tournament called Majors which will be leading up to WT Finals (<- taking place in the US). Not quite sure what the differences between Majors and Grand Slams are, seems to be $800 000 in prize money in both. Also, three events are scheduled to take place in the US -- St Pete, Long Beach and another yet undisclosed (undecided?) location for the WT Finals.

Wow, East Coast, West Coast, Col. for #3, Cinn? Whats the "logical" spot? I would guess another SoCal location. It's October. Maybe the Grand Slams count toward the Tour Final standings, and the Majors, don't? nope

Why is this schedule so confusing and annoying? Now there are majors and grand slams and opens and God knows what else. Why? Why not just have tournaments? Why is Long Beach different than Stavanger?

g2: Agree. The players play games and it becomes like a board game, where you roll the dice and instead of getting $50, you get $5,000, no difference in work applied...Hmmmmm....Probably just the $$'s in purse size, but still . . .

I was going to grouse about it being in Florida instead of SoCal, but realized I'm not going to be able to go no matter where it is that weekend.
I see there is still one "major" event to have its site announced, Sept 1-6. Between a GS in Poland and an Open in Russia.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but it appears that the "Majors" are European locations and the "Grand Slams" are non-Europe locations (Japan, 2 US and Moscow).
