Tonight's match is a Big West opener for both teams for CSUN and host Utah St and both teams have the same goal which is to win. I certainly want CSUN to continue their winning streak to four matches and I hope they do and most of all end their losing streak in Logan. I have a hunch CSUN does not want to keep that streak alive especially for four seniors who have not won a match at Utah St. This is their last and only chance. Since ERIN CARTWRIGHT-DAVIS is no longer on the team for Utah ST(!!!!) CSUN has to watch out for ZUZANA(too lazy to give out her last name) - the past two years I've seen her play she's been tough to defend. Just by reading her stats she is the go-to player once again. CSUN didn't play well in Logan last year and I hope they'll do better tonight. JEN RYAN is playing very well and the AGGIES will be focusing on her - hope she plays hot tonight because if she is I think the other players will too. Being a loyal Matador fan I'm gonna predict that they'll defeat the Aggies in....five games. Gutes gluck CSUN! (Not much is written about the match except press releases from each school - www.gomatadors.com/wvolleyball_details.php?news_id=01468 utahstateaggies.collegesports.com/sports/c-volley/spec-rel/091304aab.htmlhjnews.townnews.com/ local paper for Logan, UT)

It will be interesting to see how Jeff Stork and his teamd does this year. I kind of liked his coaching when he was interim for Dunphy in 1999. Hope to see some good volleyball from them. Utah State definitely doesn't want the streak to die, they need some wins after getting mauled by some strong teams. It should be a great match. Is there a link I can track the game from.

This will be another tug-of-war match between these two schools and they really don't get along. I remember there was some verbal exchanges between them the past two years especially last year when Utah St came over to Northridge. I too like the way Coach Stork coaches. His first year(CSUN's second year in Big West play) to coach for CSUN rough but that was expected, but the team was competitive especially in conference play taking the usual powerhouse teams to the limit even though they lost the matches. There are still some rough spots and from my observation I think the players understand what Coach Stork wants them to do and it's working out. Compared to when Coach Lian Liu coached CSUN it's totally different. Stork has these players being more aggressive, blocking better and better disposition that they can. As for the a link to this match - there isn't any and I don't see CSUN providing radio or Net broadcasting of their volleyball matches. They'll only do it for men's basketball.

How does CSUN set? Is Jeff Stork working well with Nadine Nickel?

How does CSUN set? Is Jeff Stork working well with Nadine Nickel? I think the coach/player relationship between Coach Stork and Nadine has stabilized...from a fans point of view. I do remember some instances when Stork would roll his eyes about Nickels set selection and how her sets was especially when the team wasn't playing well, but then don't most coaches do that when their team or a starting player is not playing well? In '02 everyone was new to one another so things were a bit shaky, last year was an improvement and this year is much better than '03. Nickel's set is more consistent - the hitters know what kind of set to expect from her. CSUN is back to a 5-1 offense and I think it works well for them. They briefly experimented with a 6-2 offense. Coach Stork was thinking of a way to put in all seven seniors on the floor - must've worked in practice but in competition it didn't look good from what I saw. Have you seen Nadine play?

Once I think two years ago. Northridge got blasted in that game although I think they did put some scares early in the match. They were still trying to figure things out but they had good instincts and skills. They just didn't fire back enough, just got caught in the headlights(it was the Kim willoughby show after all). Sorry I can't remeber much about the setting except that the setter was struggling to keep out of the net a lot(don't know if it was Nickel). There were some bad passes in that match. I watch a lot of games and we've played Northridge quite a bit so forgive me if I can't quite focus.

Wow. Ryan hit very well. No trouble setting to her. Well, at least the curse is finally broken for the Matadors. I'd like to see how their season shapes up. The Big west is so wide open nowadays it is not even funny.

Wow. Ryan hit very well. No trouble setting to her. Well, at least the curse is finally broken for the Matadors. I'd like to see how their season shapes up. The Big west is so wide open nowadays it is not even funny. It looks like JEN RYAN is the go-to player for the Matadors this year. She has this determined look on her face once the match starts. Hopefully she won't hit the wall towards the end of the season. Other players on the team who are quite effective is HEATHER FOBIAN(she's left-handed and plays on the right side) and of course NADINE, the setter. I'm glad CSUN won at Logan, UT and that they ended their losing streak at the Spectrum and their winning streak is still alive - for the moment. Although I don't keep in contact with any of the players I'm sure last night's win boosted their confidence. Just keep it up Matadors. Gute aufgabe CSUN. Here are the press release from each school, same information but a little different: www.gomatadors.com/wvolleyball_details.php?news_id=01469utahstateaggies.collegesports.com/sports/c-volley/recaps/091704aaa.html, great picture of CSUN's setter NADINE blocking Aggies OH Zuzana(6'1"/185 cm. Nadine is only 5'7"/170 cm in today's daily edition of The Herald Journal - hjnews.townnews.com it shows HEATHER FOBIAN blocking Aggies MB INGRID ROTH, article has quotes from Coach Fuller why Utah St lost, at least the local paper reported the game whereas the paper that reports news for the S F Valley didn't which is typical (any Utah St fans in here? did you watch the match and what did you think of the match?)
