How good is Orr's setting divorced from her all-around game? The skillset to be one of those boss setter/opps at 15s/16s doesn't necessarily translate to the next level.

Brie's one of the 3 most dynamic setters in the sophomore class and has an excellent all around game. Very athletic as well. If she was 6'0, she'd easily have the ability to play 3 different positions and be good at them in college, but even at 5'10, she's going to be a high-level collegiate setter.

Dynamic and athletic is great, but I was asking about location, tempo, decision-making, etc.? And an impartial observer would be great.

I've seen her play once. I think she's a better setter than any of her other skills. But she's 15 or 16. Really hard to tell how good she's going to be. Setting's probably the hardest position to gauge potential.

If Hannah were just a little quicker, she'd be great.

I was right a few months ago hinting at Sheehan/Iowa. Commitment came this weekend, no surprise. Perfect get for Bond and the Hawkeyes. Regarding the rest of 2017, Martin has a great relationship with Minnesota as of now, and so does Halle Johnston (to a lesser degree, albeit). Brie Orr's a little bit of a wildcard right now, but the Gophers have a solid chance with her, no doubt. Still hope the Gophers warm on Jen Mosser and keep on eye on the development of Brynn Carlson. Jen Mosser-Nope, Jaz Martin-Probably the best chance but still maybe a 25% chance, Halle Johnston-Gophs are deep in back row talent (CC McGraw just committed also...) so that ain't happening, Brynn Carlson-She will be in the 5 State area but not with Gophers, Brie Orr-maybe a 10% chance. Bottom line is I agree with Nooram 100%, none of those kids will be wearing the Maroon n' Gold. You better do your homework Mnsports255, more often than not your takes are WAY off...

I am not concerned about any player who does not want to play for the Gophers. That is their choice. I'd rather have players who are committed to the program than ones who don't want to play here.
Sure, you can miss out on some great players. That's a shame. But chemistry is vital.
Minnesota is a great school, has a terrific volleyball tradition and great fans. If that's not enough or if they want something different, that's their business.

As I recall, that comment, when it was posted, was attributed not to "rousterrooster" but to "vbpapa" or something like that.

No comment, other than this poster probably has some insight.

I, too, am against forcing local players to attend the U at gunpoint. But when the top locals don't want to stay, one has to wonder why (not to mention, whither Minn if it can't count on the top locals staying put).

I'd actually be open to discuss more if you didn't have 2 accounts to back yourself. Respectfully, I'm getting a different vibe and different info on the 2017s than you. I've never said all of them have the Gophers as frontrunners in their recruitment, but several of them have heavy interest in the Gophers and I'd be highly suprised if at least 1-2 of the 2017 Minnesotans didn't end up Goohers. We'll just have to see now.
