I'd actually be open to discuss more if you didn't have 2 accounts to back yourself. Respectfully, I'm getting a different vibe and different info on the 2017s than you. I've never said all of them have the Gophers as frontrunners in their recruitment, but several of them have heavy interest in the Gophers and I'd be highly suprised if at least 1-2 of the 2017 Minnesotans didn't end up Goohers. We'll just have to see now. Your assertion that I have two accounts is incorrect.

It is against forum rules to post in the same thread with two accounts ESPECIALLY to make the same point or to agree with oneself. If you believe someone is doing this, report it, and the Mods will investigate.
For the record, nooram is not doing this. If you are going to report something like this, you'd better be confident you are correct.

A nice visit went down between McCutcheon and Brynn Carlson today. We'll see if this leads to anything more..

PS I'm a tad bit jealous that you know this stuff. Wish I had an "in" with the team.

PS I'm a tad bit jealous that you know this stuff. Wish I had an "in" with the team. No "in" with the team (well, besides 1). Just a lot of the actual recruits themselves. 3-4 years from now, I'll be right back out of the loop again. And back to the actual topic, yeah, the coaching staff sees a lot of potential in Brynn.

Does Brynn play right side on the 16-1 team?

Saturday, April 25th is the date for the home scrimmage this spring. Time TBA.
Save the date! I'm there.

It's too bad they always seem to schedule it the same day as the Northern Lights Qualifier and also the North Country Region Championships. Most, if not all coaches in the area will be coaching elsewhere that day. With the Japan trip, are there any other spring tournaments for the Gophers this year? They used to go to ISU and UNI.

They do that on purpose. With players coming into town for the tournament, it is an opportunity for some JO players to come over to the U to watch the Gophers. MN used to try and schedule a good match (Texas one year) for that Saturday evening. Not sure what the plan is for this year.

I, too, am against forcing local players to attend the U at gunpoint. But when the top locals don't want to stay, one has to wonder why (not to mention, whither Minn if it can't count on the top locals staying put). I’ve been stumped for years about why Minnesota isn’t blowing PSU and Nebraska out of its waters (11,000 lakes) in recruiting. IMO State College, Lincoln, and Champaign don’t have anything on the Twin Cities for urban attractions. Add an Olympic Gold and Silver Medal coach, and one would think Minnesota would consistently be signing the top recruits year in and year out. Moreover, Minnesota is likely to stay represented in the Rio Olympics with Tori Dixon, who IMO is one of the 3 best middles for Team USA. Additionally, the Minnesota facilities aren’t bad either, especially compared to Penn State and Illinois, so why aren’t they a consistent tour de force in volleyball? I just don’t understand how a team with a stellar tradition built up by Hebert, coupled with the appeal of the Twin Cities, Hugh McCutcheon, terrific fans and facilities, and solid academic programs isn’t edging some of the other schools (in the conference and nationwide) with its recruiting.

Urban attractions aren't everyone's cuppa. As a matter of fact, the urban setting may be a negative. Depends on the kid, of course. But even Mike had trouble bringing in top out-of-state athletes.
Just another reason why I think he's a seriously under-rated coach even with all the respect he already garners.

Just another reason why I think he's a seriously under-rated coach even with all the respect he already garners. I can see it going both ways. I have relatives in Edina, a suburb in MSP, and they have a lake house out in Minnetonka, a fabuu lake community. It seems that MSP offers the best of both worlds: a lovely metropolitan feel in the heart of the city and a quieter, posher experience in the suburbs/lakes. Plus, there are so many Fortune 500 companies (Target, Best Buy, 3M) headquartered in the Twin Cities, so I’m sure the career opportunities abound for recent graduates that don’t plan on pursuing volleyball professionally. IMO, MSP beats most of the other B1G schools for conveniences and amenities (with the possible exceptions of Northwestern, Maryland and Rutgers, but who are they in volleyball?). Non-stop flights around the world, the nation’s largest mall, career opportunities, stunning lakes and beaches, and a reputable program with a stellar coach should appeal to some 14-16-yr olds.
