I know the team did. I saw pictures. Looks like everyone had a good time.

So there doesn't seem to be any reports from anyone from either camp.

It appears to have been very informal/low-key.

Damn. Looks like Daly's given up her topspin jump serve and is only going with the float nowadays. It's really too bad, because it was a beast and the Gophers are a terribly ineffective serving team.

The weekly wow posted on Facebook started with Daly float serving. Not sure if that means she has given up her jump serve or not...

Pretty sure the aces per set dropped by .15 or .2 per set, but outside of that, think about how many times her jumper led to overpass kills (huge #), and just got teams flustered and out of system in general. On an ineffective (but accurate) serving team, Daly's old serve is just what this teams needs.

I will just say this: it would be nice to see someone on this team with a serve that is a bit more wicked than your average floater/lollipop.
I've heard Hannah has a pretty strong one? Maybe if her back row defense continues to improve (she made some really good digs on last week's WOW, IMO), maybe we will see her back there more.

On an ineffective (but accurate) serving team, Daly's old serve is just what this teams needs. Not sure quite how to break that down since she shifted in mid-season. I'll grant that she may get other teams out of system less often, but she still gets teams out of system with the float, which is a wicked float. Last season she had .1 fewer aces per set than the previous season, when she was virtually always jump-serving but she also had about .33 fewer errors per set. I still say the jump-serve is overrated because it looks flashier.

How did the setting look? You have three setters now - right? Did they split time, was SSS the starter? 5-1 or 6-2? Any insight?

However, I'd take that with a grain of salt. Minnesota has a history in recent years of cycling through players in spring scrimmages and getting as many players as possible playing time. We technically have four setters on the roster now, but one, Carly Rasmussen, sees time mostly as a defensive/serving specialist.

I think the more interesting question is who's been playing opposite.

I think the more interesting question is who's been playing opposite. I have been thinking the same. Almost everyone knows who our starting setter will be come this fall, but there are possibly 5-6 in the running for opposite.
