I think the more interesting question is who's been playing opposite. There's been several clips from the Japan scrimmage and IL scrimmage with Wilhite at OPP. I have no idea if that's the plan or not. FWIW, Wilhite made the USA Collegiate National Team as an outside hitter.

Goehner and Lohman are on the 36-player roster for competing in Nationals for Team USA. Would have liked to see a setter there, too, but this is now 5 players who will be getting some NT training at various levels.

Did anyone find it interesting that Goehner was listed as Libero for the New Orleans pool of players? She is listed as am OH on Minnesota roster and played primarily DS last year, but did she go to Colorado Springs as a Libero for tryouts?

I don't know. But she did play a LOT of libero for the Gophers last year.

I thought Rosado played Libero? Did they switch off?

Rosado started the season at libero and, surprisingly, really struggled. Goehner took over for quite a while with Rosado at DS. When Rosado started playing better, Goehner started playing OH and ended up as a starter there by season's end.
Rosado is their libero now, as far as we all know.

I thought Rosado played Libero? Did they switch off? Rosado didn't lock in the libero spot until late in the season. Goehner was way more solid passing for a long time.

I can't find a link, but I think I remember either a podcast or article from early during spring practices where Hugh mentioned something to the effect of Rosado making the most strides forward on the entire team since this past fall. I thought she was pretty good by the end of the fall season, so she should be very fun to watch. It seems like the team as a whole is becoming more scrappy.
I suppose there is always the chance that we could see Goehner again at libero, however. I'll take either.

It's nice having the option to use Goehner as a DS or an OH. They can't do that if she's designated as the libero. They are a stronger team with Rosado at libero, imo. More options.

Any guesses as to who our starting outside might be come this fall, besides Daly? I suppose it mostly depends on Wilhite and where she ends up (OPP or OH). I just can't see her (Wilhite) not being used in one way or another. If Wilhite does end up at OPP, I think we could see Goehner at OH. If we see someone besides Wilhite at OPP, Goehner's chances for hitting might shrink considerably. This is all pure speculation, but I will venture a guess that Wilhite is still slightly ahead of Goehner right now in the running for an outside hitter spot. Then there's Alugbue, who can be discussed later.

My preference? Paige at opposite and Wilhite on the left, assuming they use one setter.
Wildcards are Alugbue and SSS?
They have lots of options, except maybe in the middle. They do have 3 middles, but if one of the Tapps is an opposite ...

No preference for me. I'd also like to see Maddie Beal get a shot at it now and then. She has an underdog thing going for her that I really like. Seems to be a smart and confident player from the little we have seen.

Too short. We need an intimidating blocker over there. Another reason why I want Paige at opposite. She needs to hit better, however, or she's a liability offensively.

Maddie and Paige are the same height, at least according to gophersports.com. (But I think we all know better!)

Paige just had a breakout season at middle. Why on earth would you want her to play on the right?
